This petite Cornish lighthouse lamp from Cornwall on the English coast is a unique and charming piece of maritime history that represents centuries of innovation building lighthouses to protect the treacherous waters. This particular type of serpentine stone comes from the Lizard Peninsula; it has been carved, turned, and polished to reveal the deep green base color streaked in light green veining and flashes of red, leaving the base unfinished to recall the natural landscape–a delightful souvenir of a memorable journey. On top, a serpentine finial is mounted on a clear glass cylinder that protects the candelabra-base lightbulb, softly guiding the way in any room around the home. Professionally cleaned and rewired for US electrical using UL-listed components, adding a black braided electrical cord with in-line switch. French vintage mid-century table lamp in the manner of Charles Dudouyt, all hand-carved from beech as a square double-helix pattern of complex geometric patterns. The design has Brutalist, architectural appeal with an organic warmth from the dark stain that creates dimension within the facets of the column. It is mounted on a square base carved to a peak on opposing sides and a bevel on the other two. A felt pad underneath protects the table surface from scratching. Professionally cleaned and rewired for US electrical using UL-listed components, adding a new linen shade to diffuse the light of a medium-base bulb and new braided electrical cord. French vintage table lamp (circa 1930s) recalling earlier bouillotte lamps, this rather unusual design features a polychrome mix of materials and transparency to softly illuminate any setting. A clear acrylic finial is adorned with a metal star above an ivory silk drum shade trimmed in matching bronze velvet. The original shade (in fair condition) shields three candelabra-base light bulbs rising on red-stained wood faux candles mounted in metal acanthus boboches on a hexagonal block of acrylic. Three S-scrolled arms of silver metallic are shielded by acrylic covers with star applications. The circular wood base alternates with concentric circles of patinated turquoise paint and brass rings. Professionally cleaned and rewired for the US using UL-listed components adding a gold braided electrical cord and push-button switch on the base. Polished in taste and patina, this vintage French pewter candlestick was converted to a small table lamp to illuminate a side table, or as a single bedside lamp. The dark gray metal is turned in rings and swells–very much in the Dutch or French tradition of an exciting silhouette–to play on shadow & light before tapering sharply into the gadrooned base. The deep well of the base might double as a kind of catchall or vide poche to save precious surface area. A custom linen shade in rectangular form (spotted on the interior with a few stains) diffuses the light from a standard base lightbulb with on/off switch below the socket. French vintage (early 20th century) Empire style cast brass table lamp with custom linen shade. This striking fixture contains a multitude of references across the Mediterranean world: a stylized female figure for a base dressed like a royal of ancient Egypt, elevating two Neoclassical arms ending in large urns parallel her head from which the faux candles rise, diffusing the light under a rectangular linen shade. The square pedestal is enhanced with a low-relief applique of a laurel wreath tied with a trailing bow. As a single lamp, this would work well in a variety of interiors and rooms such as for a desk lamp or on a side table to appreciate the sculptural quality of the figure.
