A set of four, circa 1890 English Windsor chairs. Made from oak with shaped oxbow-handrails at the top connecting to shaped splats and thin spindles for a backrest. Two additional spindles in V-formation brace the handrail from the seat. Saddle seats, akin to a “tractor seat” are thoughtfully carved for the comfort of the sitter. The chairs are raised on turned legs with low carvings attached by stretchers. Due to the hand crafted nature of the set, as well as antique condition, variation between each chair may be observed and is to be appreciated. Please view the detailed images. Sold as a set of four.

A suite of ten dining chairs from 19th century France composed of (8) side chairs and (2) armchairs all upholstered in a needlepoint material inspired by Verdure tapestry. Thick, oak frames have been carved and shaped to the iconic “Os de Mouton” profile like mutton bones–a biomorphic silhouette that pairs nicely with the lush foliate imagery in the textile. The fabric is rendered in muted tones of sage, gray, and khaki for subtle contrast between the overlapping canopy of tree limbs. Seats are accented with a large nailhead trim for textural contrast. Generous in scale and very comfortable for dining, the timeless style would not be out of place in more professional settings. Note the wood frames have been cleaned and gently refinished to preserve their historic character. The upholstery is in good condition, there is some wear to the fabric on some of the chair seats. A funky set of six (6) French dining chairs from circa 1970, easily fitting a Midcentury Modern/Scandinavian taste for gentle curvature that is most importantly both comfortable and inviting. Likely designed by the firm of Baumann, the armless chair frames of beech wood are thick and flat in profile, suspending the backrest at the top and a wide, slightly concave seat in between. What appears to be the original upholstery is a checked velvet of alternating beige and rosy pink that is in worn, but acceptable condition for the age and use.
