German 19th century giltwood chandelier for burning taper candles, untouched by the modern convenience of electricity as a delightfully analog source of light. This elegant design from circa 1820 incorporates First Empire and Neoclassical foliate imagery that gives a vitality to the carvings, flattered by the warm aura of candlelight. Chains descending from the small canopy surround a central column (resembling a fountain) which projects up from the center of the bowl that radiates with acanthus leaves.
