An impressive early 19th Century Louis XVI style ebonized desk made in France. This large desk has an ebonized wood frame with a worn inset leather top embossed with brass tooling. A leather topped slide with a brass ring pull extends 12” from the both sides, giving the desk an 86 ¼” width when extended. Below the writing surface you’ll find four drawers including a center drawer. On the left side are two stacked drawers and on the right is a single double-stacked drawer to mimic the design. Louis XVI style gilt bronze escutcheon plates are featured on the drawer fronts and one key is present to work all of the functioning locks. The desk is raised on tapered legs with brass capped feet. A handsome and classically designed French Directoire “D” roll top desk. The desk is topped with a polished piece of St. Anne gris marble. Directly beneath the marble are three drawers with beautiful bookmatched burl mahogany drawer fronts and brass escutcheon plates with an impressive steel key and locking system. The D shaped roll top is quite impressive with its burl bookmatched design and brass handles. The top opens to a fitted interior including three open cavities, three drawers and two spring loaded hidden compartments. The leather top writing surface extends forward making the total depth of the desk 37 ¼”D. The main writing surface is 29 ½”H x 48 ¾”W x 20”D. On each side of the desk you’ll find a slide out leather top writing surface, each measuring 28 ½”H x 19 ⅜”W x 18 ⅜”D. Below the center writing surface you’ll find a center drawer, two stacked drawers on the left side and a single double stacked drawer on the right. The interior of the right drawer is fitted with removable compartments. This desk is supported with squared off tapered legs ending in brass caps. Large Framed Painting “La Merienda” by A. Minguez

In 1775 he was employed by the Royal Tapestry Factory in Madrid to design a series of tapestries that were in production for fifteen years. Signed at the bottom is “A. Minguez”, who is believed to be one of Goya’s students painting cartoons as tapestry models for the master. This cartoon has been recently framed and backed to support this 18th century work of art. French Massive Painted Gold Framed Mirror

A gorgeous and massive French 19th century carved and painted gilt frame with new mirror plate. This hand-carved frame which once housed a large painting has now been repurposed into a fabulous Neoclassical style gilt mirror. Its beautiful details include wonderfully carved acanthus leaf corners and a deep reeded frame with thick inner trim and molded edges. A smooth space in the bottom center holds a plaque engraved with “JEAN D’ESPOUY” in all caps which signifies that the frame held work by artist Jean d’Espouy (1891-1921), a known French painter and watercolorist who exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais starting in 1910. This lovely and lustrous framed mirror is a great decorative find. Impressive in size and classically styled, this mirror would look amazing in the right location. French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Mahogany Desk

A wonderful mid-19th century French Louis XVI style mahogany desk hand-crafted in France circa 1850. A beautiful, smooth top of flame mahogany is surrounded by a three quarter decorative brass gallery following down to two open center storage spaces and four roomy drawers in a removable riser. This top piece easily lifts off the base for transport and is affixed with circular, recessed brass escutcheon plates surrounded by Louis XVI style brass bellflower pulls. A second three quarter brass gallery surrounds the writing surface which measures 30” H and is adorned with new black leather with gold gilt tooling. Two sliders on each side of the writing surface are covered with the original leather and extend the desk out 17 ¾” on either side. The apron showcases the handsome veneer and gorgeous colors of the wood and contains four drawers of the same design that open easily. The right side has a singular large drawer that opens to contain a notched wooden privacy slide and a four compartment pull out wooden tray for excellent organization. The whole is raised on regal turned, tapering fluted legs with brass capitals and capped feet. Showcasing an attractive polished mahogany, this desk has fine features, many storage options, and is fully finished on all sides making it a supremely practical piece. A fascinating late 19th century stone garden statue of what is possibly a maenad holding and wearing grapes and a ram’s skin. The maenad, or bacchants of ancient Greco-Roman mythology were the attendants, servants and priestesses of the god of wine, Bacchus. This stone column which dates to circa 1890 features a female figure emerging from a static square based column. She has flowing hair encircled by garlands of grapes, an exposed breast, and is draped in the folds of a ram’s skin. Her eyes are pierced where once may have been inlay. In 18th and 19th century Europe, sacristy or vestment cabinets were used to store liturgical garments, robes, wine and other articles associated primarily with the Christian religion. This superb and rare vestment cabinet made of solid oak is composed of 10 three foot drawers. These large drawers were used to store vestments from the priests. Each long drawer across the front has two pulls each and all drawers slide easily. The smaller faced drawers are the same depth as the longer ones. Beautifully figured with trim around the drawers and side panels that showcases the high quality craftsmanship of this historic church piece. Shield brass escutcheon plates adorn the keyholes, no keys included. Heavy, solid and sturdy with a beautiful rich oak patina this piece is raised on block feet to stand at counter height. A gorgeous demilune enfilade crafted in France during the 1880s. This piece is all about the Empirically styled details and distinctive burl veneer. The original stunning marble top is shaped to fit the base. The apron houses four drawers with swan and floral drop ring pulls. Each drawer is lined with green felt and the two center drawers feature permanent organization that’s perfect for serving utensils. All of the lower doors unlock to reveal a removable, finished shelf. The burled mahogany veneer has been repaired in some places, adding to its antique charm without taking away from the quality of the whole.
