    This handsome corner cabinet from 19th century Sweden is constructed with a characteristic neoclassical shape. The worn light blue paint is original to the piece and gives it a wonderful patina. A nicely carved cornice tops the whole, with capital-like details and canted corners. Fluting details flank the sides and center of the cabinets on the top and bottom portions. Both sets of cabinets lock and have an interior latch to secure the doors. The top features the same worn blue paint on the interior and shelves. The topmost shelf is uniquely shaped and carved, possibly for the purpose of storing tall candles. A shapley opening graces the midsection and adds a nice amount of detail. The frieze section is supported by columnar front legs with ormolu capitals and bases, with the whole elevated on bun-feet.     Six broad, tropical leaves comprise the arms of this newly-made brass floraform chandelier. These cupped, wide metal leaves have been pierced with tiny holes which allow the light produced by the fixture to be cast in a playful manner fitting its whimsical, dreamlike design. Each leafy frond tapers to an arched brass stem, which all gather around a central corkscrew column to create a modern bouquet of brilliant brass foliage. The fixture has a brass chain and canopy in matching finish.

  • French 19th Century Metal Measure

    Wonderfully patinated metal finishes this fantastic 19th century French measure. With two large handles, this implement would have been used to transfer the contents of one container to another. This particular measure features a striped design as well as a plaque indicating its maker, place of origin and capacity. This “10 liter” measure was made by P. Puig in Perpignan, France. Today, it would make a fantastic vessel for keeping kitchen utensils at arm’s reach or as a decorative object when placed on a shelf or surface. It still holds 10 liters, and could be used in its original application.
