English, early 20th century or very late 19th century, bust of a young male to add Greco-Roman classical beauty to any garden or art collection. The solid, reconstituted stone–a concrete material–is covered in a matte white paint that gives his features a youthful purity. Exposure to the elements has eroded some of the face with other spotted patina in the hair as if truly an artifact from the ancient world. English, early 20th century or very late 19th century, bust of Alexander the Great to add Classical beauty to any garden or art collection. The solid, reconstituted stone–a concrete material–is pigmented with dark gray streaks that gives definition to the thick hair framing the likeness of this ancient Macedonian hero. Patina from exposure to the elements has eroded some of his nose, neck, and cheek with other spotted coloration on top as if truly an artifact from the Acropolis. A striking French lithograph originally conceived by the 18th century painter Fragonard, reimagined in the 19th century by engraver Mathieu Barathier. Titled “Le Recit” which translates to English as both narrative and history, it’s a fitting concept to describe the Classical & mythological scene of a Greek philosopher and his young pupils gathered around a fire in some pastoral setting. Barathier has imbued the landscape with vitality by selectively coloring the figures in blues and yellows to varying saturation of hue. Framed and ready to hang in your interior.
