This archetypal 18th century Louis XV-style desk was given a distinguishing update in the 20th century: washing the pine construction in white paint and black pinstriping to accentuate the classic elements of the timeless silhouette. In its refreshing new look, this vanity or writing table might appeal to a range of tastes from Directoire to Dorothy Draper. The top surface extends over the apron with a smooth, matte finish and a few areas of patina (loss of pigment), offering a blank canvas for personalization to one’s needs. At the front of the desk the small pen drawer is outlined in black, continued throughout the swells of the apron down to the graceful curves of the cabriole legs.
