  • French Antique Tapestry on New Custom Cushion

    $1,250.00

    25"H x 37.50"W x 12"D

    Dimensions: 25” H x 37 ½” W x 12” D

A recently made custom cushion (or large pillow) from an antique tapestry fragment of the Aubusson-Verdure tradition dating to 19th century France, depicting a peacock atop a traditional garden urn while a rooster and chicken observe the scene from below. This fabulous needlework–at an ambitious scale–is rendered in earthy shades of taupe and olive with foliate motifs in blues and greens, contrasted by intense red tones on the birds. Backed in chocolate-brown velvet with a hidden zipper to remove the down-filled insert. Please view the detailed images to see more of this unique creation.

  • French 18th Century Tapestry Fragment

    $1,200.00

    51.5"H x 27"W x 0.25"D

    Dimensions: 51-½”H x 27”W x ¼”D

This vibrant botanical theme tapestry fragment comes from 18th century France, at the peak of the Verdure tradition. Two narrow panels were hand-stitched together as one hanging, with brilliant blue trim, that gives the works a diptych feeling for greater continuity in their narratives. The weavings show (expected) signs of abrasion and loss of pigment among the floral/foliate theme inhabited by the occasional bird. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look at the condition.
