French vintage 20th century framed oil on canvas painting of a seaside harbor in an exotic locale of indeterminate time and place. The scene is dominated by a large schooner whose sails are illuminated by the rising sun, with a dinghy of two occupants heading ashore seen to the right. Three men can be observed fishing from the large rock formation on the right side of the image. In the distance closer to land, several more sailboats partially obscure a cathedral being erected and we can only venture to guess the significance of the columnar monument on the horizon. Accumulations of paint in an impasto technique give dimension to the otherwise flat surface, please view the detailed images as there are areas of loss to the paint.

A beautifully solemn winter woodland scene is depicted in this vintage oil painting from 20th century France. A stand of leafless trees borders a rudimentary road, beyond which a fence can be seen. Long, cast shadows from trees which are out of view add to the somber, quiet character of the landscape. The artwork is set in a lovely gilt frame with dash and pearl and twisted ribbon motifs.
