A French Louis-Phillipe painted commode circa 1850 with faux marble top and four drawers. This lovely commode features a very interesting and unique trompe l’oeil Saint Anne marble top, hand-painted to capture the signature ribbons of light gray on charcoal, sitting above a perfectly organized case of original honey-gold painted exterior. Four drawers, a narrow curving frieze drawer at the top followed by three larger ones, are each fitted with a simple brass oval shaped escutcheon. Two original keys are present. A small key opens the top drawer lock and one key is shared between the other three drawers. The commode is raised on block feet and has an unpainted paneled back. With its elegant lines and a most particular patina this commode is sure to add just the right stylish touch to a bedroom or living area.
