French vintage (later 20th century) framed pastel portrait on ribbed kraft paper of two merchants in a farmer’s market with their crates of produce nearby. The artist has used a fluid, Impressionist technique to represent the figures and the setting with a soft palette in a range of blue tones, charcoal, and orange partially obscured by the corrugated paper lending a holographic quality to the scene.
