This is an English 19th century tapestry and walnut recliner, which features a plush headrest and matching armrests in deep crimson. The seatback is adjustable in its recline, also folding down flat so it can be easily moved or travel with the owner as was common with a highly mobile upper class around the Victorian period. For more of the “armchair traveler” today, the exotic patterns of the upholstery brings the world safely closer to home. It would be a conversation piece for the modern or eclectic interior. Circa 1870. Be sure to view the detailed images to see the current condition.
