A striking French lithograph originally conceived by the 18th century painter Fragonard, reimagined in the 19th century by engraver Mathieu Barathier. Titled “Le Recit” which translates to English as both narrative and history, it’s a fitting concept to describe the Classical & mythological scene of a Greek philosopher and his young pupils gathered around a fire in some pastoral setting. Barathier has imbued the landscape with vitality by selectively coloring the figures in blues and yellows to varying saturation of hue. Framed and ready to hang in your interior. A vibrant French still life painting by the artist Franck Innocent, recreated as a signed and numbered lithograph print circa 1970. In a mostly gold and blue palette, the highly accomplished 20th century artist has captured the effortless elegance of a pitcher of spring wildflowers on a dining table–an empty glass and napkin nearby–while a yellow ladderback chair peeks into the lower left of the scene. This original wallpaper sample (known in the industry as a “strike-off”) of a bold, geometric design from England in the 1930’s has recently been framed. The new frame is angular and ebonized to match, with a silver gilt trim and new protective glass; the mat board is similarly shaped to complement the wallpaper.
