Vintage Italian Veca Glass Pendant Light Fixture
$995.0012.25"H x 10.25"W x 10.25"D
Dimensions: 12 ¼” H x 10 ¼” W x 10 ¼” D
A vintage midcentury modern glass pendant light fixture made in Italy by Veca, circa 1960. The styling and use of thick, blue-green glass recalls the work of their contemporaries at Fontana Arte, pioneers of designing with glass for lighting and furniture. In this example the frame is made from chromed steel branching to support three arms (holding two chandelier bulbs each) diffused in two layers of green, transparent glass: the outer “shield” is a flat, oval lens creating an optical illusion in front of the semicircular inner panes around the lamping. Six chandelier-base light bulbs illuminate the fixture. Professionally cleaned and rewired to US electrical standards using UL-listed parts, ready to install in your interior. Antique Pendant Lights for Sale
Pendant lights are a common type of light fixture that features a bowl-shaped cove, streamlined with a lightbulb in the center. Pendant lighting combines form and function with its simple design and directed light source.
Pendant lamps have existed in some form since the Ancient Greeks, but electric pendant lights first became common in houses in the early 1900s, after the popularization of electricity and the lightbulb. Antique pendant lights use a wide range of materials, including glass, metal, plastic, and paper.
The main difference between pendant lights and chandeliers is that pendant lights typically only have one light source, whereas chandeliers have several. Our collection of pendant lights features a wide selection of pieces from the 10th and 20th centuries, with designs ranging from Modernist to Art Deco.
Benefits of Pendant Lights
Antique pendant lights are an extremely popular choice among antique collectors for several reasons — least of all, their appearance and designs. Below are some benefits of getting antique pendant lights in your home.
Easy to Install
Pendant lights have a relatively simple design, so they are easy to install and use. In addition, pendant lights only need one ceiling fixture, and you can change the length they hang depending on your room layout and decor.
Good Lighting
Pendant lighting is highly functional. The bowl-like shape of the cover reflects light from the inside, allowing it to fill a room. Pendant lights look beautiful and are highly functional in rooms that need good light coverage, such as kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms.
Saves Space
Compared to other kinds of light fixtures, such as chandeliers, antique pendant lights take up significantly less space, leaving more room for other fixtures and decorations. A common idea is to place a row of pendants one after another, creating a type of bar lighting across important parts of the room.
Blends in
Pendant lights have a simple design, so you can blend them with other room decorations relatively easily. The smooth curves of pendant lights don’t immediately draw the eye’s attention, so other parts of the room decoration can serve as the centerpiece.
