Dimensions: 29 ⅝” H x 17 ¾” W x 17 ¾” D
A French rafraîchissoir table from circa 1870, made of fruitwood with brass buckets. Functioning like a bar cart or dry bar, the square occasional table is adapted to keeping beverages cold by placing them in removable, brass ice buckets set flush within the surface. This example orients the buckets to the left side, leaving space to the right side for preparing one’s drink. Its small drawer in the apron is perfect for storing bar tools and cocktail napkins. Gorgeous turned legs support two lower shelves for additional storage and display surface. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain the lustre of the wood, this antique table is ready for your next event. Spanish 19th Century Sgraffito Terracotta Olive Jar
$1,400.0020.50"H x 16.75"W x 16.75"D
Dimensions: 20 ½” H x 16 ¾” W x 16 ¾” D
Decorated in artistic sgraffito lines and applied, twisting ribbon this large Spanish olive jar was hand-crafted in the 19th century and now, covered in a wonderful patina that sparks the imagination, it can be enjoyed in the home or garden. The rather bulbous form is ringed with flat bands in between ropes shaped to look like they are twisting around the circumference–a sign of the artisan’s vison to elevate the culinary intention of this humble olive jar to a higher status of studio pottery. Random spots of white and green lichen or moss add to its unique charm. The robust thickness of the fired terracotta makes this antique still inclined to be used indoors and out; there is not a drainage hole in the base which may limit the decorative functions. French 18th Century Oak Wine Press
$2,600.0046.50"H x 10.50"W x 10.50"D
Dimensions: 46 ½” H x 10 ½” W x 10 ½” D
This wonderfully patinated 18th century grape press screw (circa 1790) from a winery in France is carved from a solid oak post mounted on a large base that retains the original metal strapping. The shaft would have driven a large stone wheel downward–hence the large opening for the handle–crushing and squeezing grapes, forcing out their juice as the stone rotates across them. The production of wine is tantamount to French culture, and these larger-than-life screws made producing it en masse a possibility. This antique press, with its deep, rich color and texture could be used as a plant stand, display pedestal, or wired as a unique floor lamp. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Be sure to view all the images to get a closer look.
