Dimensions: 34 ⅝” H x 17 ¼” W x 16” D

Shop Antique Side Chairs
Whether you need to enhance a corner with functional glamour or add seating to a parlor or den, antique side chairs are the perfect complement to a larger dining or bedroom set. Whether vanity seating or chrome cube lounges, every room could use a side chair.
For instance, a mid-century Scandinavian easy chair can add function and class to a media room, while the psychedelic look of a Hepplewhite can turn the style of any room up a notch. The right antique side chair can tell you everything you need to know about the owner’s style because they are essential seating that doesn’t have to play by the rules.
How to Choose an Antique Side Chair
A contemporary look with tufted leather or a 19th-century swan back pair just as well with a Mission sideboard as it does a painted Art Nouveau piece. These accent chairs run the gamut, from mother-of-pearl ebonized occasional chairs to French chairs in the “Chateau Les Loups” style. You can even find contrasting colors in the same style for a baroque twist or mix-and-match a variety of chairs for a shabby-chic or a plainer, more austere calico style.
A pair of chubby fireside chairs is the setting for a quiet romantic evening. Meanwhile, a single carved Italian Savonarola chair can add a touch of mystery.
Types of Antique Side Chairs
Any room could use an extra seat or two, whether Chippendale to go with your couch or hearty barrel-back armchairs to anchor a whole room’s style. The most exciting thing about antique side chairs is the impressive number of options in style, shape, and color.
Look to the 1960s for brace back and Windsor styles that run from classic chic to double-yoke unique, or put a grand antique wing chair with brass studs in the living room for special visitors. On the other hand, 19th-century Windsor chairs, with their distinctive backs, evoke looms and spinning wheels by the hearth, while a neoclassic cohort of side chairs brings a regimented elegance to a larger room.
