A fantastic pair of vintage Italian “Cesca” style armless chairs in the manner of Marcel Breuer. First presented in 1928, the design has become iconic of Bauhaus minimalism intersecting with a reverence for traditional craftsmanship. The gently curved seats and seat backs are made of tightly woven cane stretched between a frame of complementary beech wood left in its natural blonde tone, cantilevered on tubular chromed steel legs that form a continuous line to achieve an effect that is light in visual weight and mass. Such thoughtful details make these chairs at home around a dining table, desk, or other seating area. “Made in Italy” stamped into the underside of the seats. Sold as a pair. An exceptional trio of 19th century French mahogany armless chairs with qualities of both English Regency and Biedermeier furniture to be timeless additions to any interior. The chair frames have been recently refinished to preserve the stunning color and grain patterns of the mahogany, leaving behind a natural, smooth texture to appreciate every nuance of the wood. New upholstery in a tightly woven material featuring reeded bands of dark blue and gold, complemented by a blue gimp braided trim for definition between the seat and legs. At over 19” to the crown of the seat, these chairs have a comfortable firmness and formality to dine, play games, or use in more professional settings. Set of six English mahogany Victorian period dining chairs upholstered in woven straw seats for an organic yet sophisticated look. There is an Art Nouveau quality to the carved frames, balancing the rigidity of the wood with sensual carvings that form the balloon-back and swelled shoulders, finished in little scrolls down to the center rail. Removable chair seats remain firm and comfortable, wrapped in a tightly woven material of black horsehair and raised, geometric design in pale green straw. These chairs have ring-turned front legs tapering to a little stiletto foot and sabered back legs.
