Fabulous set of four wall sconces in the manner of Helena Tynell for Glashütte Limburg (Germany) circa 1970 or late 1960s. Each fixture uses an amber glass diffuser formed into a brick-shape, obscured by bubbles on the surface that have an abstract scallop shell pattern to give texture to the light. Black metal backplates are fitted with sockets for standard-base light bulbs. Found in France, the fixtures have been professionally cleaned and rewired for US electrical using UL-listed parts. An exceptional pair of Louis XV period wall sconces, made of gilt bronze that has been sculpted into the most elegant acanthus forms. Designed to mirror each other, each light uses two candle arms set at different heights, illuminated by candelabra base bulbs. The unfurling leaves create dynamic, implied movement in their gentle curls (not a right-angle to be found) that come alive by shadow & light. A substantial pair of heavy gilt bronze wall sconces, Louis XVI style, hand-crafted in France in the 19th century. Each of these lustrous sconces feature Neoclassical symbols of the French Empire: urns at the top of the columns, fluted and foliate motifs, and festooned elements decorating the entire surface. Both of these heavy fixtures are fitted with two candle arms for medium-base bulbs, they have been professionally rewired for US electrical with UL listed parts and are ready to be installed in your interior. A petite pair of Italian wall sconces from circa 1930 in clear glass, mirror glass, and brass. Each sconce features a pair of arms with faux candle covers for candelabra-base lightbulbs, rising from pressed glass bobeche supported by elegantly curled and fluted arms. The backplates are octagonal plates of mirror glass with Venetian-style cuts along the edge and crescent-shaped brass mounts where the arms connect. The reflectivity of these striking fixtures will delight in a bathroom or hallway. This pair of vintage (circa 1970) French Hollywood Regency style gilt sconces use the symbolism of wheat to glamorize the agrarian, promoting abundance and prosperity in any room they are hung in. The design was likely inspired by a wheat-sheaf side table belonging to the famous Coco Chanel. For the modern interior these sconces delight us with organic references of pastoral naturalism, worked in gilded metal to illuminate the room in a flattering ambience. This whimsical pair of newly-electrified iron and crystal candle sconces were made in France, late 19th century. The large, multi-tiered fixtures have five lights each using chandelier-base bulbs in ivory colored candle covers, extending from bronze bobeches festooned with cut crystal drops. Apples, grapes, pears and lemons-most with leaves-are intermixed in colors of amber, emerald and amethyst, making these sconces a cornucopia of beautifully-colored fruit and dazzling crystals. Originally made to burn candles, we have had the pair inspected, cleaned and wired for electricity in accordance with US electrical standards using UL-listed components.
