    A 18th Century Louis XVI French gold-gilt barometer circa 1780. This early instrument of meteorology was used to measure atmospheric pressure and air temperature. The barometer is adorned with hand carved details; a large bow, flowers, a flaming heart, laurel leaves and scrolls. The dial face is hand-painted and has been repaired over time. The barometer is no longer in working order and is now purely decorative. Be sure to view the detailed images to see this interesting antique up close.

    A delightful 19th Century French gold-gilt barometer circa 1850. This early instrument of meteorology has been adorned with a molded and decoratively trimmed octagonal frame dotted with rosette and shell cartouche corners that has been painted gold gilt and features hand carved climbing bellflowers topped with a lovely carved shell motif. The face has hand-painted numbers, compass dial, and lettering framed by delicately painted leaf patterns.The antique glass and dial are intact. A gorgeous addition to any space this lustrous gold-gilt antique elevates a room’s status to the next echelon of style. The barometer is no longer in working order and has a timber crack across the dial.     This French 19th Century banjo shaped case clock is an eye catching piece in any space. Topped by an ornately carved cornice above the dial faced door. Supported by an intricate brass repousse frontage, the dial face displays hand painted roman numerals as well as “Chevalley, Mouilleron-en-Pareds” to indicate the maker and origin. Shapley and well ornamented, the frame features a faux bois finish and floral designs throughout. The repousse pendulum is detailed with a pastoral scene and floral elements. Glass is original.     This fantastic solid oak case clock was crafted in France during the 19th century. A sharply carved bonet over a single door with glass panes for the dial case and pendulum to show through. A beautifully patinated brass repousse fronton supports the marble dial face. The Roman numerals were hand painted in blue on white porcelain shield forms. The large pendulum was crafted from brass by hand, you can still see some of the hammer marks. This weight-driven clock is in working order, provided it is regularly wound. One crank-key included.     This 19th century clock is stunning with its diamond-shaped rippling clock frame of ebony-painted wood. Mother-of-pearl floral and foliate designs are inlaid in differently stained mahogany and brilliant mother-of-pearl, surrounding the porcelain clock face in symmetrical form. Behind protective glass, the white porcelain face has beautiful hand-painted Roman numerals and floral design radiating from the pierced brass hands. Recently professionally cleaned and ready to be hung in your interior. The clock chimes on the hour, 5 minutes after the hour, and once on the half hour. For an additional $150.00 a quartz movement can be added to the clock to keep time without winding weekly. This clock has a very short pendulum swing and must be level.     Beautiful and in working condition, this Art Deco mantle clock will add a touch of vintage whimsey to any living space. Created by Pierre Sega, a little known but prolific artist and sculptor in the early 20th century, signed on the male figure. The combination of red and white marble with bronze is a striking contrast. Two patinated bronze figures lazily top the clock. A pair of matching tazas are included; marble top and bases with floral detailed bronze support. The hand painted clock face is protected behind glass.     French 19th painted and gold gilt barometer and thermometer.  It is a recognizable ‘banjo’ shaped scientific instrument with all the carved details in gold gilt and the background is painted a sage green.  The circular face has painted numbers and lettering behind glass for reading the barometer.  There is also a painted scale on the face of the thermometer. Although it no longer works for taking measurements, it’s a great decorative piece. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look at the beautiful details.

    French metal mantle clock with ‘Boiscontier a Paris Rue De Caumartin’ printed on its face.  The crest is a basket with elaborate foliate motif over a symmetrically shaped case.  The key operates the clock’s working movement through two key holes found in the face.  The painted clock face has Roman numerals and corresponding time increments of five minutes each.  The domed glass front and back can be opened.  The clock sits atop a fluted column and is surrounded by wreath and garland details.  The base of the column has an abundance of detail.  The whole sits on four toupee shaped feet.  The chime strikes once on the half hour and once for every hour on the hour.

  • French 19th Century Provincial Horloge Case Clock

    A carved crest of a basket with flowers crowns this heavily carved oak case clock, c. mid 1800’s.  A glazed-panel door just below the crest is flanked by sides with pierced half-moon carvings and houses the painted enamel clock face with Roman numerals and pierced brass hands.  The pressed brass fronton surrounding the clock’s face is quite stunning and has a horn of plenty, rising sun, basket of flowers, floral and foliate motifs.  The clock has a weight driven escapement and strikes on the hour, two minutes past the hour and half hour.  Just below is the rectilinear raised and recessed panel columnar door with extensive carvings and a glazed cabochon revealing the brass bob.  The cabinet has basket, floral, ribbon, guilloche, pearl, urn and lea & berry motif carvings.  The whole sits on a plinth base.  This clock has been cleaned and is in working condition.

    This fabulous Louis XVI-style figural mantel clock, c. 1890, is from France and features a bronze bust of a maiden attributed to Eugene Aizelin (French, 1821-1902), signed on the left proper side of the base “Ene. AIZELIN.” The bust is mounted upon a solid black and rouge marble accented clock base with enamel dial and hand-painted Roman numerals. This clock will add a lovely feminine touch to any mantel, dresser or console.

     

  • French 19th Century Empire Portico Clock

    Dimensions: 19-7/8″H x 11-1/8″W x 5-3/4″D

    This elegant period Empire ormolu-mounted white marble portico clock, c. 1830, is from France. The floral-and-foliate ormolu-mounted frieze sits above four Doric columns with gilt bronze collars and bases and surround the workings. The 4-1/2″ enamel dial is marked “Sacré à Paris” and displays black hand-painted Roman numerals and housed in a gilt-bronze acanthus-leaf bezel over an unadorned pendulum. The whole rests on an ormolu-mounted plinth base with gilt-bronze pad feet. It has been cleaned and is in working condition. This clock would be exquisite set atop a darker contrasting mantle or console table!

     

  • Fine French 19th Century Empire-Style Marquetry-Inlaid Satinwood and Gilt-Bronze Portico Clock

    This French 19th century marquetry-inlaid satinwood and gilt-bronze portico clock, c. 1840’s, in the Empire taste, features a floral-and-foliate-inlaid frieze over four line-inlaid satinwood columns with gilt-bronze capitals having diapered and acanthus-leaf detail and gilt-bronze bases. The silvered and engraved dial with engraved Roman numerals is surrounded by a finely diapered gilt-bronze bezel and cast gilt-bronze floral pendulum surmounted by a pair of swans resting on a floral-inlaid plinth base with turned pad feet.  The whole is presented in a dome-on-stand which retains its original wavy glass. This clock retains its original key, has been cleaned, and is in working order.
