This hand-carved frame which once housed a large painting has now been repurposed into a fabulous Neoclassical style gilt mirror. Its beautiful details include wonderfully carved acanthus leaf corners and a deep reeded frame with thick inner trim and molded edges. A smooth space in the bottom center holds a plaque engraved with “JEAN D’ESPOUY” in all caps which signifies that the frame held work by artist Jean d’Espouy (1891-1921), a known French painter and watercolorist who exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais starting in 1910.
