French 18th Century Oak Wine Press
$2,600.0046.50"H x 10.50"W x 10.50"D

The production of wine is tantamount to French culture, and these larger-than-life screws made producing it en masse a possibility. This antique press, with its deep, rich color and texture could be used as a plant stand, display pedestal, or wired as a unique floor lamp. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Be sure to view all the images to get a closer look.

English Reproduction of La Baigneuse or Venus Bathing

Dimensions: 65” H x 18” W x 23” D
English, early 20th century or late 19th century reproduction of the masterpiece “La Baigneuse” (Venus Emerging from the Bath) inspired after a circa 1767 work by Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain which the original now lives at the Louvre in Paris. This statue is cast, reconstituted stone that once graced a garden. Note the dark patina from exposure to the elements shrouding her bare shoulders while the gathered fabric she dries herself with is still mostly white, underscoring her association with love, fertility, and desire. Portuguese 18th Century Carved Stone Column
$6,500.0039.50"H x 16"W x 15.25"D
Dimensions: 39 ½” H x 16” W x 15 ¼” D
A fabulous 18th century carved stone column from Portugal, best described as Gothic or Romanesque in style, using the familiar acanthus motif around the capital. By the artist’s hands and tools the stone has been shaped to incredible depth within the folds of the leaves as they spread across the circumference. The abacus (the flat top surface) is rather irregular in shape either by time or being extracted from the original architecture. The square plinth base is similarly affected as the top in areas of loss and discoloration, which has been gently cleaned to appreciate the natural color and textures of the stone. Today it would make an extraordinary pedestal to uplift a garden urn or vase whether used inside or on the patio. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition of this dramatic pedestal.

Note how they can separate into three sections for easier transport and installation on-site (see the image gallery). The pinnacle is a sharp point which spreads into a rather angular cone, matching the battlement notches that flares out between the junction of the two upper parts of the urn. The urn body is rather flat at the shoulder and decorated with a series of flat, circular applications around the circumference. The foot has a pronounced gadroon texture above a square base. French Vintage Reproduction Parthenon Frieze Panel
$5,800.0042.25"H x 59.38"W x 4"D
Dimensions: 42 ¼” H x 59 ⅜” W x 4” D
The Parthenon, that postcard image from the Acropolis of Athens, Greece, was once a great temple of white marble and a staggering program of sculptures from floor to ceiling to enhance the architecture. Built in the 5th century BCE for the goddess Athena, the structure is mostly in ruins now with its treasures lost, looted, or held in the collections of major museums. This relief is a 20th century French reproduction by the Atelier de Moulage du Louvre, the plaster casting workshop at the Louvre in Paris, of one section of the pictorial frieze that wrapped around the interior structure. Originally this frieze measured over 500 linear feet, telling a narrative about a procession toward the Acropolis involving many distinct characters, these two horsemen included. In this particular frame two men on horseback make their way to the temple, note the animal hide draped on the rider to the right side with two clawed feet waving as they gallop along. Stamped on the left-facing edge by the Atelier de Moulage du Louvre. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.
