    A fantastic English mahogany drop leaf table, made there circa 1840. The table has two large, demilune-shaped leaves that lay to the sides of the table when down. To expand the top and raise the leaves, the leaves are lifted, and the apron itself is hinged midway to swing out – with one leg attached – to create a 90 angle that braces the top, when up. This ingenious design is simple and effective and negates the need for additional table legs that can impede the knees and feet of seated individuals. The mahogany is rich with a deep color and wonderful patination. A wonderfully versatile table that can be placed and used throughout the home.     An expertly carved and painted vanity, done in the Louis XVI style circa 1870 that features a tilting mirror, three drawers, and an inset marble top. A characteristically asymmetrical tied ribbon is perched atop the mirror, with more scrolled carved details found all about the piece. The antique mirror plate,held between two fluted posts with finials and brackets- features a generous amount of foxing. The two small drawers on the vanity surface are topped with scrolling acanthus leaves and carved drapery details between them. The inset colorful marble top surface has been cracked and professionally repaired. The vanity surface is 29-⅜”H. The paneled apron with carved pearl borders houses a single drawer with a dainty drop ring pull. Apron knee clearance is 25-¼”. At each of the corners, flanking the drawer, are carved floret dies.     A delightfully congenial set of French 19th century painted nesting tables. The set consists of three delicate tables that are graduated in size. They neatly stack or “nest” inside one another, enabling them to be kept out of sight when not being used. The polychrome tables each have exceptional hand-painted details that ornament them and provide a gentle sweetness that only a bouquet of freshly-cut flowers can. Painted green, the tops were trimmed in gold gilt, which can still be seen in many places. The shapely form of the scalloped apron is also integrated into the slender cabriole legs that bend gently at the knee and taper slightly to a pad foot. The three tables individually measure:

Originally made popular during Paris’ Belle Époque, marble bistro tables such as this one, continue to be used in restaurants and bistros throughout France and other parts of Europe. This solid marble top and iron base table was constructed in the same manner as the originals, over 100 years ago. Features an antiqued, seamless brass band which encompasses the rim of the marble. The three foot base features the same detail taken from an original early 20th century French bistro table. The marble is securely fixed to the table using heavy duty steel prongs used under the table top to hold the marble to the base. Assembly is required. Suitable for use indoors or out. If used outside, tarnishing may occur to the brass band.
