A fantastic cast iron & brass culinary scale, circa 1880, from France, would have been used for weighing a variety of grocery items. The brass plates are removable and have a few stamped letters to indicate calibration. The frame has gained a wonderful patina and remains quite balanced. The molded wooden frame continues to provide a stable foundation.
