English Early 19th Century Thick Oak Bench
$3,800.00
Dimensions: 23″H x 79″W x 18-3/4″D
A single solid-oak board was used to make the top of this incredible 19th century English bench. The bench was made in the English countryside circa 1830. The top is worn, with evidence of countless bottoms resting momentarily before going their different ways. While the top of this primitive antique is void of design details, the A-frame base does have some carved linear details that provide the seat with some ornamentation. The upright supports are joined by a stretcher which is secured between the two upright supports with large, wooden pegs. Such an incredible piece of furniture could be used in any room of the house. While this antique was made as a bench, today it would make an unconventional, yet stylish coffee table. c.1830.
