  • French Oak Kitchen Prep Table From Burgundy

    A French oak work table from the late 19th century, constructed with peg joinery and featuring a thick top, protruding corners, single drawer, and tapered legs. Created in Burgundy, France circa 1890 and used as a kitchen prep table, this piece has a butcher block 1 ½” thick top sitting above a plain apron with a single drawer which is easily opened with a turned wooden pull. The table is raised on four simple yet elegant tapered legs. The whole piece has a beautiful patina and attractive proportions. Recently cleaned and polished with French paste wax to reveal the wood’s distinctive grain patterns. Tables like this one most likely stood in the kitchen quarters before the fireplace for staff or a home cook to prepare food on it. It is in great shape and ready for another century of culinary adventures or would be a wonderful addition to a living room, bedroom, or hallway.     This solid oak farm table from France is full of rustic charm. Long planks of oak make up the smooth rectangular top and showcase a beautiful patina. The apron houses two drawers that open easily with brass crescent pulls. The interior of one drawer is halved into two sections by a wooden divider. Sturdy chamfered square legs feature lovely floral and foliate accents and are connected by an H shaped stretcher that proves lasting support for this piece.
