French 19th Century Napoleon III Cushion Mirror

A 19th century French repoussé cushion mirror of the Dutch tradition, punched from a metal plate to high relief for exciting dimension, with mythical sea serpents and dense foliate patterns covering the rectangular form. This narrative mirror in the Napoleon III style features an engaging pediment where two dragon-like creatures flank a basket of flowers and trailing vines. The central rectangular mirror plate projects outward from the frame, enclosed and lifted by a border of four small mirrored panels ornamented with elaborate metal corners in similar foliate motif to the crown. The mirror plates are original, all five exhibit varying degrees of foxing and a thin haze of oxidation. A simple yet distinct walnut etagere with ebonized legs from France, circa 1870. The top showcases the characteristic grain patterns of walnut and features a thin lip on all four sides. A single drawer is housed in the apron and easily slides out with a small brass knob. Elegantly turned legs of ebonized finish connect with two lower shelves, which are a dark walnut. French 19th Century Ebonized & Inlay Secretary

This French Louis XVI style drop front secretary from the 1800s has impressive etched brass inlay on its exterior, which is made even more dramatic by the deep ebonized finish. The top has its original inset white marble top (repaired) surrounded in brass trim. A single drawer is fitted with three sections above the drop-front door that becomes the desk’s felt top writing surface. Inside the desk are two open shelves and two burl mahogany drawers for organizing to your needs, secured by functioning lock and key. Below the desk you’ll find four additional drawers. Cast gilt bronze ormolu is found at the top corners and base of this stylized cabinet. All five of the drawers have faux keys installed to be used as drawer pulls. A lavish and intricately carved French 19th Century Napoleon III style giltwood oval mirror. This amazing mirror hand-crafted in France during the reign of Napoleon III has a highly decorative oval frame that is truly dazzling. Richly embellished with finely carved neoclassical designs, a circling egg and dart pattern, scrolling acanthus leaves, and floral motifs, the oval frame also showcases thick and remarkably intact giltwork. The antique mirror glass is in excellent condition and shimmers next to the rich patinated gold leaf finish throughout the frame. Small cracks in the wood can be seen on the interior of the frame.
