Wrapped in smooth mahogany grain, each drawer opens by large, turned wood knobs in ebonized effect, surrounded by contrasting trim of lighter tone that is carved with intermittent “nodes” to appear as bamboo. Note the chest is made in two sections for easier transportation and relocation: the upper two rows of drawers are one unit and the lower two drawers plus the feet are a separate unit. New upholstery in a tightly woven material featuring reeded bands of dark blue and gold, complemented by a blue gimp braided trim for definition between the seat and legs.     A scaled-down chest of four drawers from 19th century England, circa 1850 in mahogany and marble. The removable, white marble slab forming the top surface shows wonderful clouds of gray veining under a softly etched patina and rounded corners. In the case, a stack of four drawers exhibits dramatic patterns of natural mahogany wood grain, opening by small brass knobs with faint Neoclassical references. Each drawer front is animated by a unique pair of bookmatched mahogany slices in the signature warm color and expressive, radiating waves. These splendid platters feature a rich lustrous cobalt trim on creamware with a blue underglaze that can be seen throughout, an alternating mix of white azalea shaped blossoms, and a stylized dynamic running spray of budding vines circling a cream center. This pair exhibits the exceptional quality and classic style embodied in antique Wedgwood pieces. Nice and clean and in very good antique condition with the expected minimal wear. These platters would be perfect for serving, as centerpieces, or for display in open shelving or on a wall.
