French 18th Century Fruitwood Commode with Marble Top
$8,750.00
Dimensions: 32-¼”H x 40-¼”W x 19-⅞”D
A phenomenal fruitwood commode, made in France circa 1790. This early antique has a smaller scale than many more-recent pieces and still retains its original piece of shaped Belgian Saint-Anne marble, gray in color. The marble top is in wonderful condition for its age, and has turreted front corners that match the rounded and fluted front corners found on the base. The fruitwood has patinated finely over the centuries. Three wide drawers comprise the body, each with two beautiful round brass pulls and inset brass escutcheons. The drawers have no keys. The commode is lifted by beautifully turned front feet. A charismatic little commode, that, while short in stature, is big on charm and character!
