A collection of three painted counters from a 19th Century French pastry shop. This rare and outstanding group of counters would transform your everyday kitchen or retail shop with abundant storage and gorgeous pale blue color. The largest of the fixtures is paneled on three sides in geometric motifs under the original painted finish, now layered and crackled with patina. The backside is open for storage with two drawers (one with fitted sections) and a single shelf spanning the width. The original white marble top hangs over its base making a durable and large work surface. Additionally, the other two counters included in this grouping offer nine (9) drawers each and were once attached to the walls of the pastry shop, not intended to be standalone units, but could be finished on the backs to suit their new location. Both of the matching chests of drawers have the same painted finish and white marble tops for a cohesive look across the three fixtures. All three counters pair very well together, raised off the floor on plinth bases. The top surface is simply constructed of two parallel planks, quite thick, held in place by tongue & groove joinery visible from the sides. Within the frieze sit two drawers using iron drop handles mounted on pierced backplates; the right drawer has been divided into two sections and is more patinated with the remains of a blue-green paint. Below the drawers are three paneled doors representing two cabinets: the (locking) left door is one compartment, whereas the center door and right door share a lock to enclose the wider of the compartments. One key included to share between the two locks. The right-side shelf is 18 ¼” deep and the left side is 15 ⅝” deep. Posts on the corners become the feet, leaving a short gap between the bottom trim and the floor. French 19th Century Solid Walnut Enfilade

A truly magnificent French 19th century solid walnut enfilade, circa, 1810, from a country auberge (a lodging place like an inn). Here is a substantial piece to anchor any room, at just shy of nine feet long and more than three feet tall. Transitional in style, it favors clean lines to allow the rich wood tones and handsome grain patterns to speak for themselves. A row of three shallow drawers fits discreetly in the frieze below the plank top: one wide drawer at the center and one on each side, all using incredible forged iron handles. Note that the shield escutcheon is present but the lock and key are removed. Below the drawers one finds a line of four, paneled doors following the proportions of the drawers above: the center doors open together as a wide compartment with a single shelf, 21” deep. While this piece may have originally been intended as a vanity to wash up at, the beauty and practicality of the marble surface makes it adaptable to other areas of the home like a kitchen or dining room as a dry bar and small buffet. The lightly patinated stone surface rises along the back to form a low backsplash, finished by a narrow shelf above (4 ½” deep) that is supported on beautifully carved brackets to the left and right sides. An elegant mahogany & pink marble commode from France, 19th century, in the Louis XVI style that easily fits with Empire and transitional tastes that value noble materials. The top surface is a thick slab of unusual pink and gray marble shaped to turreted front corners and a slight flange at the back. Italian 19th Century Inlay Commode

An extraordinary Italian walnut commode from the 19th century, Neoclassical in style, decorated with a graphic marquetry of dark/light woods that creates movement and definition over the exterior. The surface uses two, beautiful planks shaped to chamfered corners and outlined around the edges with a sawtooth pattern of inlay in contrasting light/dark tones. A case of five drawers includes two small drawers in the top row over three wider drawers all inlaid with a geometric design of elongated checkerboard strips of alternating blonde and dark woods. Each drawer opens by ring pull hardware; note the escutcheons are only decorative without an original key present. Chamfered front corners are inlaid with a very narrow triangle rising from the feet to end in a little diamond perhaps suggesting a candle or symbolizing an eternal flame. The side panels have inlaid designs complementary to those on the drawer fronts so from every perspective one can admire the visionary intentions of the maker even two centuries later. Collection of 3 French Pastry Shop Counters

A collection of three painted counters from a 19th Century French pastry shop. This rare and outstanding group of counters would transform your everyday kitchen or retail shop with abundant storage and gorgeous pale blue color. The largest of the fixtures is paneled on three sides in geometric motifs under the original painted finish, now layered and crackled with patina. The backside is open for storage with two drawers (one with fitted sections) and a single shelf spanning the width. The original white marble top hangs over its base making a durable and large work surface. Additionally, the other two counters included in this grouping offer nine (9) drawers each and were once attached to the walls of the pastry shop, not intended to be standalone units, but could be finished on the backs to suit their new location. Both of the matching chests of drawers have the same painted finish and white marble tops for a cohesive look across the three fixtures. All three counters pair very well together, raised off the floor on plinth bases.
