French Vintage Decorative Brass Vide Poche
Dimensions: 2-1/2″H x 18-1/4″W x 13-3/4″D
A lovely brass vide poche from the early part of the 20th century. “Vide Poche” translates from French to “empty pocket”, as this bowl serves as a place to empty one’s pockets of keys, change, etc. without making an untidy mess. This ornately made example is designed with scrolling leaves, floral bouquets, roses, shell and dolphin fish motifs that emerge from the brass itself. Two pierced handles can be found on the bowls sides. The bowl is so decorative, in fact, that the artist incorporated a hanger into its posterior in case someone wished to display the beautiful brass work on the wall.
