    A fantastic English mahogany drop leaf table, made there circa 1840. The table has two large, demilune-shaped leaves that lay to the sides of the table when down. To expand the top and raise the leaves, the leaves are lifted, and the apron itself is hinged midway to swing out – with one leg attached – to create a 90 angle that braces the top, when up. This ingenious design is simple and effective and negates the need for additional table legs that can impede the knees and feet of seated individuals. The mahogany is rich with a deep color and wonderful patination. A wonderfully versatile table that can be placed and used throughout the home. The shaped and impeccably inlaid top is hinged and will unfold to double in size and reveal a green felt playing surface, ideal for cards, dominoes and other games. The maenad, or bacchants of ancient Greco-Roman mythology were the attendants, servants and priestesses of the god of wine, Bacchus. This stone column which dates to circa 1890 features a female figure emerging from a static square based column. She has flowing hair encircled by garlands of grapes, an exposed breast, and is draped in the folds of a ram’s skin. Her eyes are pierced where once may have been inlay. This solid marble top and iron base table was constructed in the same manner as the originals, over 100 years ago. Features an antiqued, seamless brass band which encompasses the rim of the marble. The three foot base features the same detail taken from an original early 20th century French bistro table. The marble is securely fixed to the table using heavy duty steel prongs used under the table top to hold the marble to the base. Assembly is required. Suitable for use indoors or out. If used outside, tarnishing may occur to the brass band.

The original stunning marble top is shaped to fit the base. The apron houses four drawers with swan and floral drop ring pulls. Each drawer is lined with green felt and the two center drawers feature permanent organization that’s perfect for serving utensils. All of the lower doors unlock to reveal a removable, finished shelf. The burled mahogany veneer has been repaired in some places, adding to its antique charm without taking away from the quality of the whole.     This stunning armoire de mariage was crafted in France during the 1800s from richly toned solid oak. The ornately carved motifs represent the wishes of wealth and prosperity for the new couple. The cornice has an impressively carved woven basket overflowing with flowers and pomegranates that serves as the nest for a pair of doves meant to represent the new couple. Swirling acanthus leaves with flowers flank the basket beautifully and are meant to represent fertility. The top of the wonderfully paneled doors display well carved grapes on the vine to represent abundance. Each of the doors center is carved with gardening motifs meant to represent wealth: the left showcases a lush basket of fruit, flowers, and wheat while the right has a watering can, ladder, sickle, and shovel. This piece is a fantastic example of the traditional gift from the bride’s parents. Large steel barrel hinges support the hefty doors.
