French 19th Century Walnut Louis XVI Style Commode
$5,250.0033.13"H x 47"W x 21.75"D
Dimensions: 33 ⅛” H x 47” W x 21 ¾” D
A magnificent, solid walnut commode from 19th century France, aligning with Louis XVI and transitional tastes, it is a multipurpose storage piece scaled to use practically anywhere around the home. Note the central plank of the top surface is an astonishing 18” in depth. There is an honest repair of a circular plug to the right side, really more of a beauty mark than a blemish. The case is a very unusual number of two drawers–not the usual three–which are quite deep as a result, using brass bail pull hardware lending functional ornamentation to the piece, complemented by small keyhole escutcheons leaving great swathes of the wood to appreciate for the tones and grain pattern. No key is present. Turned, fluted feet elevate the case from the floor. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this antique commode is ready to join your interior. Dimensions: 19 ½” H x 53 ⅜” W x 14” D
A charming English oak storage bench from circa 1730. However primitive in construction, such an uncomplicated design is what makes it versatile for an entryway, hall, or mudroom. One could even use it as a traditional “footlocker”, that is a trunk placed at the end of a bed. Lift the narrow lid on the top and one finds a deep and wide storage compartment. Note the presence of two iron locks still intact but neither key is present. Side planks with triangular notches cut out (to suggest feet) elevate the trunk from the floor. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax–ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more.

Dimensions: 48 ¼” H x 32 ¼” W x 16 ¼” D
This French 19th century butcher block table would be a helpful addition to any kitchen or bar. A hinged lid functions as a flat, solid surface as well as to conceal the very well patinated end-grain block undeath. The work surface includes a thick block for chopping next to a shallow trough to the right side. Massive steel brackets brace the block, and the table’s apron is finished with a small drawer for convenient storage. Thick, square legs support a shelf just above the floor to complete the thoughtful features within a compact design. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Upholstery in a thick, velvety material characterized by a shadow-stripe is in good (antique) condition that is still firm and supportive. Squared seat backs and seats are outlined in a nailhead trim for complementary texture. Handsome turned legs function as a decorative counterpoint and solid foundation to withstand continued use. Austrian 19th Century Set of Four Biedermeier Chairs
$2,850.0034.75"H x 17.50"W x 17.50"D
Dimensions: 34 ¾” H x 17 ½” W x 17 ½” D
An extraordinary group of four Biedermeier walnut “shovel chairs” in the style of Josef Danhauser (Vienna, Austria) circa 1815. Each chair features an exaggerated, curled backrest in walnut veneer featuring exotic grain patterns that symbolize the distinctive taste of the Biedermeier period. Each backrest is ebonized around the edge for a dramatic contrast to the amber-gold tones of the frame. Evidence of spalting within some of the maple frames is another naturally occurring phenomenon that adds further visual interest to the ensemble. The seats appear to be more recently upholstered in a striped fabric of gold with tiny white dots, offering both comfort and another element of refinement. Note the cushions are removable, facilitating easy maintenance or future reupholstery. Sturdy chair bases feature clean-lined flat legs on the front and slightly sabered legs to the back. They have been cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax–ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images. Sold as a set of four.

Swedish Empire Painted Parcel Gilt Settee
$6,800.0033.25"H x 79"W x 28.75"D
Dimensions: 33 ¼” H x 79” W x 28 ¾” D
A glamorous Swedish Empire style settee from the early 19th century (circa 1820) as a painted wood frame sheltering the fully upholstered interior of a single bench cushion, three back cushions, and two bolsters. The gondola-like frame (angled outward to be welcoming and luxurious) is painted a smooth, cream-white, accented by Neoclassical appliqués in parcel gilt such as anthemion and scrolled designs. Carved, gilded feet that appear to be a trophy from some ferocious animal elevate the settee as one final detail to exhibit the craft and imagination behind such a creation. French 19th Century Painted Bibliotheque
$13,995.00103.50"H x 71"W x 20"D
Dimensions: 103 ½” H x 71” W x 20” D
This French bookcase from the late 19th century makes a dramatic statement by its scale alone, and the crackled texture of the paint gives it visual intrigue to anchor any kitchen, dining room, library, or office. Below an understated cornice, four tall, narrow glass-front doors of the bookcase provide visibility to regard the contents on three shelves (approximately 16” deep) which are stationary. Note doors are paired so the second and fourth doors contain the locks while the first and third doors use a slide-bolt for security. Most of the panes exhibit the unmistakable wavy surface and bubbles of antique glass, and a few are replacements. In subtle contrast to the chalky exterior, the back and shelves of the interior have been painted an ethereal blue-gray to further illuminate and highlight the contents. The lower section of the unit offers an undivided cabinet for (less visible) storage and organization, behind two pairs of locking doors. The stationary shelf inside is 16” deep, spanning the full width of the interior. Cleaned, tightened and polished, this monumental storage piece is ready to astound in your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more. Two keys included to share between the four working locks.

The sheltering seat interior is tightly upholstered across the back and arms with two square, loose seat cushions for easy maintenance. The down-wrapped cushions remain plush and very comfortable to relax or converse.
