A beautiful hand-painted stool from 1900’s England. The antique is upholstered in a creamy gold silk fabric that is affixed to the frame using the same creamy gold-colored gimp tape. The frame is ebonized, with the four legs having a cabriole form and the apron being shaped. The ebony base has been masterfully hand-painted with gorgeous flowers, birds, foliage, and decorative filigree. This stool was greatly influenced by the Chinoiserie movement that was going on in England at the time. Hardwood has become exposed where some of the ebony has been lost, giving the stool its antique character.

A French 19th century ash adjustable stool with a deep relief twisted-form central column that acts as the mechanism to adjust the height and three sturdy splayed legs. The large wooded screw attached to the seat allows the stool to change heights with a quick spin. Made almost entirely of wood with original joinery screws being the only metal on the piece. This delightful antique stool was hand-crafted in France, circa 1900. Square in shape, the stool stands on lovely turned and fluted legs connected to an elaborate, hand-carved, and shaped stretcher that meets in the center, topped with a decorative finial. The seat is upholstered with the original colorful floral needlepoint tapestry held tightly by well patinated brass nail heads. This nicely sized stool is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and showcases a well patinated warm white paint that would work well in almost any space.
