The large wooded screw attached to the seat allows the stool to change heights with a quick spin. Made almost entirely of wood with original joinery screws being the only metal on the piece. An antique that would never stop being useful, this petite stool would be great for the piano, an artist, or as a stand alone seat. Structurally sound with a wonderful patina. Fabulous pair of late 19th century Swedish Gustavian stools featuring the regal motifs of Louis XVI, toned down by the painted white frames. Firm but comfortable seats are presently upholstered in a gorgeous striped material of alternating gold and ivory bands over a natural filling (probably horse hair). At roughly chair height, these could be placed anywhere in the home for extra seating or footstools. Around the apron of the seat is a line of gilded molding punctuated by gilded rosettes at the corners. Tapering feet carved with a foliate theme on the upper half narrow toward the floor with fluted carvings that have been accented in gilt.
