French 19th Century Louis XVI Mahogany Commode
Dimensions: 34″H x 44 1/2″W x 22 3/8″D
A stately Louis XVI mahogany commode from 19th century France. The five-drawer commode is topped in a lovely piece of white marble. The marble is in wonderful antique condition and shaped to fit the body beneath. The “top” drawer is actually three separate drawers that are spaced by fluted carvings. The center top drawer, as well as the two larger drawers below, contain working locks with brass escutcheons surrounding the keyholes. The hardware is brass, with drop ring pulls providing a way into the commode. The body’s corners are turreted with fluted carvings and continue to short, tapered legs, ornamented with fluted carvings and brass capped feet.
