Italian 19th Century Empire Style Oil Painting on Canvas
$6,500.0049.88"H x 35.75"W x 0.75"D
Dimensions: 49 ⅞” H x 35 ¾” W x ¾” D
A dramatic Italian painting on canvas from circa 1820, using the negative space of a black background to make the still-life composition at the center pop with more dimension and intrigue. In the manner of earlier Baroque and Dutch styles, depicted here is a stylized Neoclassical garden urn on pedestal/column with two swans for handles and lions and the foot. Romantic blossoms spill from the mouth of the urn hanging over the figural register which depicts a pair of Greco-Roman characters joined by a cherub. The border around the edges of the stretched canvas is not paint but carefully decoupaged strips of paper in a wavy design of complementary tones. Regarding the appearance: the background shows areas of water spots, craquelure, and separation. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. The complementary painted wood frame in an ivory tone is illuminated by gilt accents. This small painting will surely command attention in any gallery wall collection but has the presence to stand on its own as well. Ready to hang in your interior. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. French circa 1890 portrait of a beautiful young woman in a fitted green blouse that complements her complexion, with pronounced red lips. French, late 19th century oil on canvas nude portrait of a bashful young woman raising her arms partially to shield her face from view, as she coquettishly looks at the viewer, legs in contraposto stance. French Vintage Naïeve Oil on Canvas Painting
$650.0019.75"H x 27.50"W x 1"D
Dimensions: 19 ¾” H x 27 ½”W x 1”D
This French early 20th century oil on canvas painting illustrates a modest stone homestead with terracotta roof in a pastoral landscape below an orange tree. The artist’s technique of thin brushstrokes to build layers of nuanced color adds organic texture to the scene, as if one can touch and feel the trees and earth, drawing the viewer in for a closer look. Written on either side of the door is “vale” and “vade” which might be from Latin (and subsequent Romance languages) as a kind of well-wishing/goodbye. Faint signature and date to the lower right. Sold unframed, wired on the back to hang as-is. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition as they are an essential part of the description.
French Early 20th Century Male Nude by Didier-Tourné
$5,500.0037.50"H x 31.25"W x 1.50"D
Dimensions: 37 ½” H x 31 ¼” W x 1 ½” D
An early 20th-century gilt framed oil on canvas painting by French artist Jean Didier-Tourné (1882-1967), depicting a lean, mustached male nude in a kind of contraposto stance as he turns away from the viewer in silhouette. The background palette is deliberately muted that obscures the paintings on the wall behind him, creating a horizon line at the middle contrasting the gray-green upper against a burnt sienna below. His pale body is not only a figure study of human anatomy but one of shadow & light as the muscles are illuminated. Overall the minimal composition is captivating for its tense juxtapositions. Framed by a gold gilt molding with thin reeded design. Signed on the front with additional text on the back to place in context of Rome circa 1911. French Vintage Framed Landscape Painting
$495.0022.75"H x 26"W x 1.25"D
Dimensions: 22 ¾” H x 26” W x 1 ¼” D
An enchanting French vintage oil on canvas painting that depicts a quaint, autumnal scene of a small village along a stream. With each brushstroke of dappled impasto technique, the talented artist has captured the quality of the light at the time of year, as it filters through the remaining leaves on the tree branches. The buildings to to the left of the embankment are partially shrouded by the repetitive line of trees, including a couple figural representations of the residents. Framed in simple gilt molding to complement the palette, no visible signature. Please view the detailed images to see more as the paint has begun to develop a fine craquelure.
Belgian Vintage Portrait Painting by Delescluze
$2,995.0026.75"H x 22.75"W x 2.13"D
Dimensions: 26 ¾” H x 22 ¾” W x 2 ⅛” D
A vintage portrait by Belgian artist Edmond Delescluze (1905-1993). The subject is a young woman with fair hair and skin, her classic Flemish profile set off by a red hat decorated with ostrich feathers and a gaze concentrated toward the left of the scene. Behind her is a surreal landscape of pastel blue, pink, and yellow perhaps the waning hours of daylight. Around her is wrapped a diaphanous pink shawl exposing a gold necklace with a locket, which must have some importance considering the level of detail applied. Please view the detailed images to see more of this thought-provoking work. Recently framed in natural oak molding that complements the palette. Signed by the artist to the lower left.

Dimensions: 16 ¾” H x 12 ⅞” W x 2 ⅛” D
This emotive French vintage oil painting captures the portrait subject’s striking features and dapper clothes set off by a moody background of tonal emerald green. What they appear to share though, is a quiet intensity in how they observe the world. Reframed in simple oak molding, ready to be hung in your interior. Please view the detailed images.

$2,500.0022.63"H x 18.50"W x 2.13"D
Dimensions: 22 ⅝” H x 18 ½” W x 2 ⅛” D
An alluring vintage painting on canvas by Belgian artist Antoon Luyckx (1922-2017), it appears to be a self-portrait of him in front of a canvas (work-in-progress) staring back at the viewer. Behind him in the background, through the window, is a solitary figure waiting on a bench, however the artist has chosen to use a “soft focus” effect to obscure the view. Recently reframed in simple yet complementary oak molding. Please view the detailed images to see more. Signed by the artist to the lower right.

French vintage oil on canvas painting by Francois Cruciani, titled “Behind the Easel”. The subject, a young artist herself, works intently on the painting before her set upon the easel. An arresting oil portrait on canvas of a Flamenco dancer by French artist Paul Tondreau (1886-1977). The subject is posed with one hand on her hip and the other holds a fan (known as an “abanico”) with a patterned red shawl loosely draped over her shoulders. Her dark features and gold jewelry project the confidence of a star on the dance floor. Recently reframed in simple yet complementary oak molding. Please view the detailed images to see more. Signed by the artist to the lower right.
French Vintage Portrait Painting Signed Combrisson
$2,995.0022.50"H x 19.13"W x 2.13"D
Dimensions: 22 ½” H x 19 ⅛” W x 2 ⅛” D
Vintage (late 20th century) portrait on canvas by French artist Guy Combrisson (1905-1991). The subject is a woman of a certain age and means, wearing a rather fancy blue dress (including the dark ruffle of a boutonniere at the neckline) who poses for the artist in front of a mirror. This perspective creates an intriguing reflection of her back and the easel but not the artist himself behind the canvas, which shows the remarkable talent of the artist as he presents not only a view of the lady’s public persona but one that also explores themes of vulnerability. Recently framed in natural oak molding that complements the palette. Signed by the artist to the lower left. Please view the detailed images to see more.
French Vintage Portrait Painting of a Lady with Iris Signed Combrisson

$3,200.0022.75"H x 18.75"W x 2.13"D
Dimensions: 22 ¾” H x 18 ¾” W x 2 ⅛” D
French vintage portrait by Belgian artist Edmond Delescluze (1905-1993). The subject is a slender young woman with tousled black hair in a strapless blue dress, her strong features unflinching and concentrated toward the right of the scene. Behind her is a curious assortment of objects: a carousel horse, a blue vase with flowers, a blue lidded jar and two framed pieces of art above the bed that beg for a narrative to be strung together to tell her story. Recently framed in natural oak molding that complements the palette. Signed by the artist to the lower right. Please view the detailed images to see more of this thought-provoking work.
French Mid-century Oil Painting Signed Coste
$3,800.0034.50"H x 31"W x 2.13"D
Dimensions: 34 ½” H x 31” W x 2 ⅛” D
An arresting oil on canvas portrait by the French artist Albert Coste, signed and dated 1943. The subject, a sophisticated woman of a certain age and fair complexion, is illuminated by the sun coming in from the nearby window, forming a corona of her hair as she sits in a blue bergere by an open secretary desk. She stops her correspondence to indulge the artist by sitting for this portrait, her left hand (note the red fingernails matching the red of her lips) holding a book. Her right arm rests on the manchette of the chair, as her fingers delicately touch the cheek. Recently framed in natural oak molding that complements the palette. Signed by the artist to the lower right. Please view the detailed images to see more of this thought-provoking work.
Belgian Early 20th Century Still Life in Gilt Frame
$695.0031.13"H x 33"W x 2.50"D
Dimensions: 31 ⅛” H x 33” W x 2 ½” D
This early 20th century still life is a classic composition of mixed fruits and vessels on a wood table, however the moody lighting conditions show the remarkable talent and perceptive observations of the artist, Aurélien Dehon. Arranged before a murky background, a ceramic pitcher is softly illuminated by the light coming from a nearby window which is barely reflected on the dark brown demijohn to the right. In the foreground is a white platter of fruit that appears to be bananas and apples. A complementary gold gilt frame (repaired) protects the delicate work, which shows its age in a craquelure texture, some loss of pigment, and a small hole near the mouth of the pitcher. Signed by the artist “Dehon” and a small sticker pasted to the back with unclear title and address. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.
French Vintage Framed Watercolor
$385.008"H x 10.63"W x 0.75"D
Dimensions: 8” H x 10 ⅝” W x ¾” D
A vintage French watercolor painting of what appears to be the shore of a beach, the sky merging with the sea in a pale blue haze to obscure any sense of time and place. Solid ground is implied by two rows of dark figures standing on the edge of an embankment–the more distinguished of the silhouetted characters wear hats and packs suggesting they are soldiers or other officials in uniform rather than there on holiday. The work has been recently framed in simple, silvergilt molding and Museum Glass–ready to hang in your interior by the attached sawtooth hanger on the back. Signed by the artist to the lower right. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition as there are a few spots of foxing.
