Dimensions: 30 ½” H x 52 ⅛” W x 31 ⅜” D
A dramatic French marble and iron work table from the 19th century, that would have been a display fixture in a butcher shop or bakery to present the current offerings. French 20th Century Industrial Work Bench
$3,995.0034.50"H x 75.50"W x 30.50"D
Dimensions: 34 ½” H x 75 ½” W x 30 ½” D
A fantastic industrial workbench from France, early to mid-20th century, assembled from a heavy steel case with a thick wood top surface that would allow this piece to become a unique kitchen island infused with authenticity for the modern interior. Using only three boards (likely beech), the wood reflects decades of merciless patina inflicted upon the resilient planks: holes, chop marks, bits of metal, and layers of paint to name a few, resulting in an engaging, tactile quality. In the case below–equally patinated to reveal layers of blue and cool mint green paint–are three distinct compartments for display and storage: an open shelf to the left which can be accessed on either side, and two cabinets with angled handles that may have originally had locks. Note that the left cabinet is fitted with brackets to support a shelf. Folded steel plates for legs elevate the case to a comfortable height to work and prep, leaving the floor open (perfect for accessing outlets and other utilities) underneath. Recently cleaned and waxed to preserve its character, this industrial work table is ready to join your interior. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.

French 19th Century Carpenter’s Workbench
$5,200.0029.50"H x 77.50"W x 23.75"D
Dimensions: 29 ½” H x 77 ½” W x 23 ¾” D
This French 19th century workbench is a fascinating relic of technology from before the assembly line, a hybrid of artisanal rusticity and industrial innovations. The top planks are impossibly thick, patinated by saws and hand tools necessary to the carpenter’s craft, punctured with five holes to adjust a “holdfast” iron rod for securing a project to the table. Four variably sized and roughly hewn legs support the top and a trough-like lower shelf. A large vise grip projects from the left leg, opening by a wood-handled crank to unscrew the bolt–a potentially useful feature should one want to repurpose this piece as a console table for an entryway. The awe-inspiring workbench appeals to multiple design tastes, from brutalism to industrial to primitive for its charming imperfections.
