Collection of 3 French Pastry Shop Counters

A collection of merchant painted counters from a 19th Century French pastry shop. This rare and outstanding group of counters would transform your everyday kitchen or shop. The shop counter is paneled on three sides with geometric motifs and the original layered and worn paint finish. The backside is open for storage with two drawers, one with fitted sections and a single shelf. The original white marble top hangs over its base making a durable and large work surface. There are two counters each with 9 drawers that were once built into the walls of the pastry shop. One chest is slightly larger than the other, clearly custom to the wall they were once attached to. Each chest has its original worn and layed paint finish and white marble top. All three counters pair very well together, and rest on a plinth painted platform. Swedish 19th Century Painted Corner Cabinet

This handsome corner cabinet from 19th century Sweden is constructed with a characteristic neoclassical shape. The worn light blue paint is original to the piece and gives it a wonderful patina. A nicely carved cornice tops the whole, with capital-like details and canted corners. Fluting details flank the sides and center of the cabinets on the top and bottom portions. Both sets of cabinets lock and have an interior latch to secure the doors. The top features the same worn blue paint on the interior and shelves. The topmost shelf is uniquely shaped and carved, possibly for the purpose of storing tall candles. A shapley opening graces the midsection and adds a nice amount of detail. French Solid Oak Corner Buffet a deux Corps

This substantial corner buffet a deux corps was made in 19th century France from solid walnut. The top portion is crowned with a molded cornice over rounded double doors with shapely carved panels. All four doors are fixed with a matching cast brass escutcheon and functioning lock- two keys are included. A scalloped apron nicely compliments the curvy paneling on each door. This fantastic Swedish bakers cabinet is a versatile addition to any space. Crafted in the 19th century with the original, worn charcoal marble top. The apron houses a single lengthwise drawer with a pair of oval bail pulls. Unlocking the shaped paneled doors reveals two removable shelves in the usual fashion of a bakers table with the ability to fully slide out- sometimes called baker boards. A massive Dutch apothecary display case from a pharmacy. A large cornice with gorgeous acanthus leaf carvings draws the eyes up. Three molded, adjustable shelves compose the top portion while the bottom single shelf is fixed. Fantastic reeding and fluting details perfectly compliment the paneling on the sides. In wonderful antique condition with a gentle patina, there is plenty of space for books, art, and decor. This piece would have originally been built into the wall behind the pharmacist counter, evidence of which can still be found on the back. This remarkable French Provincial Louis XV-style walnut and marble-top enfilade, c. 1840, is quite deep, offering plenty of storage. The impressive grey-brown marble top, with white inclusions, has recently been repaired and shows some scratches. The three shaped-panel doors are deeply carved, mounted with hand-cut steel escutcheons and steel barrel hinges, and open to reveal a single fixed shelf. Below is a well-carved apron and block feet. Custom Armoire Made with 19th Century Painted Boiserie Doors

This one of a kind armoire was custom made to showcase the fabulous pair of 19th century painted boiserie panels that now serve as the doors. Boiserie panels rose in popularity during the 18th century as a way to emulate the grandeur of the French nobility, but they also served many practical purposes like heat insulation and noise control. A marvelous, dawn- hued scene overlooking a vast countryside depicts a variety of avian species in the foreground. Antiqued brass hardware perfectly compliments the colorscape of the paintings. The left door features an interior hook to hold it closed while the right is secured with a strong magnetic door catch. The interior is painted a warm walnut color and easily houses 5 adjustable shelves with a depth of 14”. The exterior was painted to match the existing color of the door panels. The whole is slightly raised on bracket feet and adds a nice shape to the overall body. This classically designed breakfront bibliotheque was custom made with beautiful walnut veneer. The center of the bookcase has two glass paneled doors with five adjustable shelves measuring 12.5” deep, below are two pull out slides measuring 33 ½” deep. The bottom has simple paneled doors that open to a custom storage cavity. This bookcase must have been used in an office and there are two shelves with slides, most likely used to pull out a printer or other electronic devices. The center column of this bookcase is flanked by a pair of open shelves that have a narrow depth, perfect for displaying books and accessories. Each side has five adjustable shelves at 9” deep. Below are doors inset with brass wire, behind is one adjustable shelf on each side at 6.5” deep. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax this bookcase is ready for your immediate use. This French 18th century armoire in the Louis XV style has a fantastic dark oak finish and gorgeous hand carved details. In 18th and 19th century Europe, sacristy or vestment cabinets were used to store liturgical garments, robes, wine and other articles associated primarily with the Christian religion. This superb and rare vestment cabinet made of solid oak is composed of 10 three foot drawers. These large drawers were used to store vestments from the priests. Each long drawer across the front has two pulls each and all drawers slide easily. The smaller faced drawers are the same depth as the longer ones. Beautifully figured with trim around the drawers and side panels that showcases the high quality craftsmanship of this historic church piece. Shield brass escutcheon plates adorn the keyholes, no keys included. Heavy, solid and sturdy with a beautiful rich oak patina this piece is raised on block feet to stand at counter height. French 18th Century Gothic Armoire

This 18th Century, mixed wood French armoire is absolutely stunning. It is Gothic-style and features two tall, paneled doors on barrel hinges. One key operates the locking right door and acts as a pull. The left door latches from the inside to keep it in place when closed. This piece tells a story from inside the left door, as it has years of faded markings from growing children, some with dates and names. Just behind the doors are four fixed shelves. The crown and base of this armoire are oak while the body is fruitwood. The detail continues with three paneled sides, soft curved corners and two large bun feet on the front. Large French 19th Century Painted Shop Counter

A large pine shop counter, sourced from a store in France. The counter dates to 1870 and has had a long and lustrous career and is ready for retirement. The counter has clearly worn a few different coats of paint, with the most recent being a straw-colored yellow. Over time, these finishes have become worn, moreso in high-traffic areas, exposing the natural pine beneath. The countertop has a painted faux-marble top which has some losses. Behind the counter, you’ll find four drawers, the smallest having a working lock. One end of the counter has a hamper-style lid that can be lifted to access additional storage space. Today, the counter would make an exceptional bar for the style-conscious entertainer.

A large three-tier server, made in France circa 1890. The server is demilune in shape, giving it a distinct, finished presence. The front has two breaks where expertly turned columns provide support for the two upper shelves. It has been constructed using a combination of quarter sawn oak and fruitwood, which have been formed into panels that create the buffet’s back. A demilune quarter sawn oak plinth base provides the foundation for this grand French server.

French Empire Burl Wood Demilune Enfilade

A gorgeous demilune enfilade crafted in France during the 1880s. This piece is all about the Empirically styled details and distinctive burl veneer. The original stunning marble top is shaped to fit the base. The apron houses four drawers with swan and floral drop ring pulls. Each drawer is lined with green felt and the two center drawers feature permanent organization that’s perfect for serving utensils. All of the lower doors unlock to reveal a removable, finished shelf. The burled mahogany veneer has been repaired in some places, adding to its antique charm without taking away from the quality of the whole. A fantastic Provincial buffet – made of quarter sawn oak – from 1780s France. This beautiful solid oak case antique features exceptional decorative carvings, all done by hand, that are found on antiques dating to the countryside in this time period. Influenced by Louis XV, the design utilizes the sinuous lines found in that style, but lacks the asymmetry and grandiosity associated with LXV antiques. This tall buffet has three drawers that are set over two locking doors. The doors are hung on brass barrel hinges and have shaped brass escutcheons. The interior has a single fixed shelf. The rounded corners are bedecked with hand-carved details, along with the shapley skirt. The sinuous lines found along the skirt continue onto the short cabriole feet that lift the tall case antique.

Dutch 18th Century Oak & Ebonized Armoire

A Dutch armoire made of solid oak from the 1700’s. This armoire has geometric paneling instead of the classic pillowed carvings of the similarly styled Dutch kussenkast. Built in four bodies this case piece comes apart in four sections; the crown, the section with two short doors, a section with two taller doors and the base which includes a large drawer and ebonized bun feet. A handsome and sizable solid oak buffet a’ deux corps with Provincial charm from 19th century France. This four door case antique is split into two bodies: a larger lower body and a smaller upper body. The upper is crowned with an molded cornice above impeccable carvings depicting draped fabric and hanging tassels. The upper doors are wonderfully molded and conceal a single cavity with two removable shelves. The lower paneled doors open to reveal a space with a single removable shelf. Both sets of doors contain functioning locks and feature scrolling iron escutcheon plates. Two keys are included. All doors are supported by steel barrel hinges. A nicely scalloped apron ties in the curvy detailed from the top. The bottom of the linen press has matching paneled doors and five oak removable linen press shelves at 20 ¾” deep. The lower body is slightly deeper and has an interior cavity with a single fixed shelf. This can also be secured with its functioning lock and key. The apron houses two small drawers, each accessed with a key, although only the drawer to the right has a functioning lock. Four keys total. This stylish case piece is made of mahogany and topped with its original shaped marble top that has incredibly gorgeous patterns and charcoal and black veining throughout. A bank of three drawers with trimmed paneling are all fitted with brass oval escutcheon plates and attractive angular brass drop pulls, each edged in finely detailed neoclassical motifs. Handsome fluted corners flank the drawers. The whole is raised on well turned and polished front feet and elegant tapering back feet. The sides are handsomely paneled and showcase the beautiful wood grain and fine patina that can be seen throughout the whole commode. A unique 19th century butler’s pantry made in England circa 1860. Beautifully crafted of English pine, these Victorian era cupboards provide abundant storage with classic style. Featuring sets of three upper and lower cabinets with plenty of shelving, this pantry easily adapts to your needs. Hand-crafted with handsome crown molding and raised panel doors that showcase the hand painted finish and a well aged patina. The large cabinet doors open on steel hinges with both decorative metal drop and simply turned wooden pulls to reveal five shelves in the top cabinets and two large shelves in the bottom cabinets that provide excellent organized storage space. No key is present for locks with simple brass escutcheons on all six doors. French Carved Oak Gardeners Armoire de Mariage

This stunning armoire de mariage was crafted in France during the 1800s from richly toned solid oak. The ornately carved motifs represent the wishes of wealth and prosperity for the new couple. The cornice has an impressively carved woven basket overflowing with flowers and pomegranates that serves as the nest for a pair of doves meant to represent the new couple. Swirling acanthus leaves with flowers flank the basket beautifully and are meant to represent fertility. The top of the wonderfully paneled doors display well carved grapes on the vine to represent abundance. Each of the doors center is carved with gardening motifs meant to represent wealth: the left showcases a lush basket of fruit, flowers, and wheat while the right has a watering can, ladder, sickle, and shovel. This piece is a fantastic example of the traditional gift from the bride’s parents. Large steel barrel hinges support the hefty doors. A sizable key unlocks the doors to reveal a storage space with 3 adjustable shelves- one being the top for a drawer. French 19th Century Transitional Mahogany Enfilade

A fabulous rouge marble top is the perfect top for this stunning transitional French mahogany enfilade. The mahogany case antique has a unique style of its own: incorporating elements of both Louis XVI and Directoire styles. Three drawers can be found in the apron, all with brass bail handles. They are positioned above two interior cavities which vary in size: a smaller to the right and a larger to the left. Both are concealed behind lockable doors. Two keys are included for all three working locks. The smaller compartment has three adjustable shelves. The larger has two adjustable shelves. All drawers and panel doors are trimmed in brass. The drawers are separated by fluted pilasters that run to the case antique’s skirt. The entire enfilade is lifted by six finished, tapered legs which are capped in brass feet.

A French Empire buffet made of rich flame bookmatched mahogany is classic in style. The original marble top of charcoal with white veining sits at the top of this buffet and is removable. Below is a single wide drawer decorated with a burl bookmatched mahogany veneer. The doors are flanked by handsome, turned and polished columns capped with gilt bronze ormolu at the top and bottom. When open, the doors expose two fixed shelves with abundant space for storage. Floral gilt bronze escutcheon plates adorn both doors, the lock is in working condition and has one key. This beautiful French 19th century Empire commode is made of burl walnut veneer. The top is Saint-Anne marble and sits over a wide drawer hidden in the apron of the piece. There are three more drawers below with ornate pulls and escutcheons. A pair of columns sit on either side of the drawers. All sit on a thick plinth base with wide, raised feet. Indian 19th Century Teak and Iron-Bound Trunk

This 19th century, Anglo-Indian solid teak trunk with original iron bindings has aged beautifully. It has a striking patina with fantastic texture and grain. The hinged top has two forged iron hasps that would have been pinned close with an iron or steel pin. When open, a single chain holds the lid, preventing it from falling back. There is a single forged handle on either side of the box. This iron-bound box originates in the Northern Indian state Rajasthan.

French Directoire Fruitwood Corner Cabinet with Inlay

A French solid fruitwood corner cabinet that will add a bit more storage space without taking up too much room. Hand-crafted in the 19th century around 1850, this is a wonderful find with decorative ebony inlay trim and its original shaped marble top. The body is curved at the front with two paneled doors that open to an interior with an adjustable shelf that measures 21 ⅜” deep in the center and 28 ¾” wide. Scrolling brass shield escutcheons adorn the front and one key is present for the workable lock. The fruitwood has been polished to show off its colorful tones and patina which pair well with deep ebony inlay trim and swags. The whole sits on sturdy blocked feet. In excellent antique condition. French 20th Century Mahogany Vitrine

Display your treasured objects in this beautiful early 20th century French Empire style mahogany vitrine. Beveled glass panels can be found in the case antique’s door and sides, allowing one to view the contents placed inside on its two glass shelves. A mirrored back gives the illusion of a completely transparent cabinet. The vitrine has recently undergone a refinishing, giving the antique a ‘like new’ appearance. The wonderful brass hardware found at the capital and base of the pilaster columns which flank the door has been polished to a brilliant luster – along with the sabots that cap the front feet. Inside, two additional finished mahogany lower shelves can be used to house objects out of sight. The door can be locked using the original brass palm motif key included.
