French 19th Century Walnut Wine Tasters Table
$2,995.0028.88"H x 44.25"W x 43.25"D
Dimensions: 28 ⅞” H x 44 ¼” W x 43 ½” D
This wine tasting table, properly known as a vendange, was made in the late 19th century in France by a creative process of wrapping a painted canvas on the walnut planks to create a tactile but durable finish. Originally the round top would have been dense with red roses and vines painted on a black background–now variably patinated–the fugitive pigment leaving behind the embossed texture of the flora with thin traces of color. Used by wine-makers throughout France and Europe, these specialized tables use a tilting mechanism that allows its top to be positioned in upright orientation – taking up less space in tightly-quartered cellars. A quick twist of the V-shaped support leg locks the top in place when flat. This unique table would be delightful as a center table to greet your guests, as well as in an informal dining space like a breakfast nook. Please view the detailed images to see more.
