Dimensions: 35 ½” H x 41 ¾” W x 20 ½” D
An extraordinary parcel gilt and polychrome console table from Italy, circa 1780, which has miraculously retained its handpainted, stylized Neoclassical illustrations in green, yellow, and red. As if an artifact from Pompeii, whose rediscovery and excavations along with the town of Herculanaeum where shaping 18th century fashion, the table top features an illustration of a Greek-style vessel (krater) depicting a reclining male youth joined by a harpist to the left and a character with an offering of fruit to the right. The tops of the square legs feature a geometric design in gold gilt–reminiscent of a Greek Key–before tapering to the floor. This antique console manages to span two millennia of decorative arts traditions (from the ancient world to the 18th century revival of them) and yet still feels original for the modern interior by its own artistic merits. French Art Nouveau Gilt Console Table
$4,500.0029.50"H x 39.50"W x 17.50"D
Dimensions: 29 ½” H x 39 ½” W x 17 ½” D
French Art Nouveau giltwood console table circa 1900, a sculptural piece of furniture that expresses the artistry of the period when every aspect of interior design was an opportunity to minimize the geometry of the built environment softened with biomorphic references. This example has a shaped, white marble top that is slightly lobed at the front corners flowing in line with the gently arching splay of the two legs (the only legs meaning the piece needs to be secured to a wall for safety). An entanglement of floral and ribbon carvings decorate the bowed profile, which meet in the center of the apron as a pendant with a single flower. Note how the smooth luster of the gilded finish is truly dazzling to behold, like a piece of fine jewelry for the home. A stretcher joining the legs seems to make a connection to the poetry of Japanese floral arrangements, using the slight asymmetry for visual tension. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition as there might be some previous repairs to the legs. Marble shows the expected patina of dark spots and fine scratches.

French 19th Century Farmhouse Dining-Worktable
Dimensions: 29” H x 58” W x 34 ½” D
A 19th century French farmhouse table, whose robust design is a practical solution for the modern kitchen to pivot between dining and preparation. The beech wood top is 2 ½” thick, already well-patinated so one need not worry about the quality of their knife skills. A single drawer in the apron which spans the full depth has the unusual but helpful feature of easily gliding forward and back to access the contents from either side. Projecting from the apron of the table on each short side are wooden pegs that could be gently used or appreciated as a unique decorative element. Thick, oak legs braced with an H-form stretcher support the mass of the table, which could be slightly raised to a more comfortable height as an island. This unique work table has been cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to preserve and protect every feature.
