Vintage (circa 1966) La Sainte Bible illustrated by Hungarian artist, Endre Balint with text in French. This special collaboration combined the research and translation from École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem (an academic institution founded in the late 19th century) with the bold, modern style of Balint to produce a work that was engaging and approachable to read for a wide audience. The colorful supporting images bring the text to life through thought-provoking scenes which are a complete departure from any previous styles or schools of religious art but still very attuned to the emotional and spiritual weight of the verses. Condition is very good with some wear to the red leather-bound cover; the gilded edges of the pages have dulled; some foxing of the paper, otherwise the plates are still vibrant to enjoy. The objects on display come to life in a vibrant palette of complementary colors given dimension to their perceived forms by a variety of techniques to layer and texturize the paint for depth. Contrasting against the monochromatic background (and porcelain coffee pot) are the intense, vermillion reds of the apples, against the softness of the chartreuse pears, with a curious draped form in fiery orange to the lower right. Vintage Italian Veca Glass Pendant Light Fixture

A vintage midcentury modern glass pendant light fixture made in Italy by Veca, circa 1960. The styling and use of thick, blue-green glass recalls the work of their contemporaries at Fontana Arte, pioneers of designing with glass for lighting and furniture. In this example the frame is made from chromed steel branching to support three arms (holding two chandelier bulbs each) diffused in two layers of green, transparent glass: the outer “shield” is a flat, oval lens creating an optical illusion in front of the semicircular inner panes around the lamping. Six chandelier-base light bulbs illuminate the fixture. Professionally cleaned and rewired to US electrical standards using UL-listed parts, ready to install in your interior. Pair of German Leather Armchairs & Ottoman by Wilkhahn

This vibrant seating ensemble from German firm Wilkhahn was designed in the late 20th century by multi-hyphenate designers Wiege, Frenkler, Kolberg & Birkenheuer. The set includes a pair of red leather-upholstered lounge chairs and a matching ottoman to share between them. A molded plywood shell with walnut veneer (nodding to midcentury modern) encloses the cherry red interior of luxurious full-grain leather, elevated by cast aluminum legs. Wide seats are supremely comfortable, benefitting from thoughtfully engineered head and armrests gently folded over the shell for guests to lounge or converse at length in a living room, study, or office. A set of six (6) Milo Baughman-inspired armless dining chairs from the late 20th century; the squared seats rest on chrome sled bases to give ample stability in a clean and modern profile. Each chair comes slipcovered in a bold floral pattern, although the grey microfiber wrapping the frame is soft and attractive should one desire a more neutral look. Possibly the design can be attributed to Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia as the “Solo” collection, there are no original labels to be found that would verify this provenance beyond the quality of the materials. French Mid-Century Modern Cabinet

A large dressing armoire produced by Ameublement N.F. in France in the 1950s to 1960s, attributable by a label found inside the far right door. This sleek midcentury modern cabinet would work well in a bedroom or serve as a bar, dazzling your guests with the honey-gold wood grain of maple under a glossy finish. The two pairs of doors retain their original mirror plates matched in the center of the case, with slightly bowed panels of wood on the outer left and right. This case piece is modern and stylish with ample storage space. The interior has three fixed shelves on each side, and the right cabinet is also fitted with drawers. There are two working locks each with their own key. Conical legs taper down to sharp points at the floor to give a sense of lightness compared to the generous scale. Note that there are a couple areas of loss on the lower trim, among other signs of daily use left upon the wood.
