Dimensions: 35” H x 62” W x 25 ½” D
A French 19th century chaise lounge (chaise longue), recently updated with new upholstery of luminous, striated velvet in a gorgeous shade of blue-green that glows like aquamarine in sunlight. The curvaceous seat is left-arm facing, with a gracefully reclining back dotted with a few button tufts to keep the upholstery tight, sheltered by a low arm across the back side that beckons one to sit and relax. Turned wood feet elevate the piece from the floor and are mounted with small brass casters to reposition as needed. Internal stuffing of natural material, likely horse hair, remains firm and comfortable. Please view the detailed images to see more.

French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Sofa
$5,800.0035.50"H x 76.50"W x 30"D
Dimensions: 35 ½” H x 76 ½” W x 30” D
A timeless settee in the Louis XVI taste dating from the 19th century with painted wood frame sheltering the upholstered interior of three down-feather seat cushions, tight seatback, and two side panels. In classic 18th century fashion, the straight rail across the back makes a clean silhouette that is open and inviting, sloping down the low arms cushioned with little “manchette” upholstered pads to rest one’s elbows, and enclosing a slightly bowed seat deck. Fluted and rosette carvings at the corners transition into the short, tapered legs. Note that the settee is currently covered in a white muslin fabric on the interior with exposed tacks–ready for its next look in the new fabric of your choosing or left untouched for that casually elegant lifestyle. French 18th Century Louis XV Parlor Suite
$9,800.0037"H x 65.88"W x 25.50"D
Dimensions: 37” H x 65 ⅞” W x 25 ½” D
French, 18th century Louis XV period seating ensemble to instantly transform a parlor or living room into a grand “salon” with seven pieces: one camelback sofa, three fauteuil armchairs, and three (armless) side chairs. Upholstery of cut velvet in pale green–like a white jade–has been brocaded with tonal damask patterns, harmonizing with the botanical theme in the caved frames, and outlined in brass nailhead trim. The giltwood frames have patinated over the centuries to reveal the deep red bole underneath, giving definition to the sinuous, rococo curves accented with floral and foliate carvings positioned at strategic points for maximum effect. The thoughtful proportions of the seat interior (balancing the heights and depths) are all quite comfortable, with dense stuffing of horse hair or other natural material that remains mostly firm and supportive underneath the tight upholstery. English 18th Century Oak Hall Bench
$3,500.0037.75"H x 55.38"W x 23"D
Dimensions: 37 ¾” H x 55 ⅜” W x 23” D
A circa 1780 English settle or hall bench in solid oak with paneled back and removable bench cushion. After nearly three centuries the wood appears ebonized with dark patina that enhances the sharp angles of the recesses in the paneling. The geometry of the seat back establishes three places to comfortably seat up to three guests (although best for two people) enclosed by low, gently scrolling arms. A foam bench cushion upholstered in cinnamon-toned, velvety material of gently worn condition rests on a (more recent) wood deck for support. From the side view one can see holes that are evidence the seat was originally made of rush, now the zippered cushion is a modern and practical choice for cleaning and comfort. Elevating the whole are three, turned and tapering pad-footed front legs, quite thick, and two squared back legs to sit flush against a wall. The wood frame has been cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to reveal every historic character. Please view the detailed images to see more.

Dimensions: 32” H x 50 ½” W x 24” D
French petite-but fabulous–vintage sofa in tufted, striped velvet upholstery with black fringe skirting the floor. The Napoleon III style frame features an elegantly rolled headrest, sloping down to the low arms enclosing the two down-filled seat cushions that are plush and deep to curl up in. Tight tufting of the seat back creates strong visual interest from the graphic interplay of soft texture and bold color–a little sofa with a big personality. Black bullion fringe is the perfect complement to the black velvet stripe of the upholstery material, and a practical choice because this sofa is about having fun not housekeeping. Note that the fringe on the back is a little discolored and loose, please view the detailed images to see more of this neat settee.

French 19th Century Louis XVI Tall Back Settee
$4,500.0043"H x 54.63"W x 27.63"D
Dimensions: 43” H x 54 ⅝” W x 27 ⅝” D

Manchette (upholstered) arms use the same velvet and braided trim as the interior upholstery; originally a chartreuse color now more reminiscent of persimmon. Gilded palmette carvings soften the transition from the scrolled arm terminals to the gently sloping front, inlaid with thin strips of marquetry. Tapering front legs feature capitals of gilded acanthus leaves to underscore the Neoclassical inspiration. Please view the detailed images to see more of this elegant settee.
