Dimensions: 33” H x 41 ⅛” W x 2” D
A mid-20th century French oil on canvas painting of assorted red apples and green pears on a fabric draped table, the composition is a modern and fresh interpretation of a classic still-life arrangement. The objects on display come to life in a vibrant palette of complementary colors given dimension to their perceived forms by a variety of techniques to layer and texturize the paint for depth. Contrasting against the monochromatic background (and porcelain coffee pot) are the intense, vermillion reds of the apples, against the softness of the chartreuse pears, with a curious draped form in fiery orange to the lower right. Signed by the artist to the lower left. Framed in antique-white painted molding of similar age, this original work is ready to hang in your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more.

French Vintage Framed Floral Still Life
$250.0019.25"H x 16.25"W x 0.75"D
Dimensions: 19 ¼” H x 16 ¼” W x ¾” D
A spirited French oil on canvas painting of vintage age & condition. To call the work a “still-life” is a disservice to the vitality and celebration of color happening within the scene; the vase at center overflows with bursts of pink, orange, yellow, and white blossoms in impasto technique reminding the viewer of the abundance and excitement of gardens at the height of summer. This small painting will surely command attention in any gallery wall collection but has the presence to stand on its own as well. Currently set within a simple wood picture frame and ready to hang in your interior. Dedicated by the artist to their mother, for Christmas 1976, on the reverse as well as a signature on the front. French Vintage Framed Painting of Pheasants
$2,650.0027"H x 39"W x 1.50"D
Dimensions: 27” H x 39” W x 1 ½” D
This endearing vintage French painting on board of two pheasants is sure to put a smile on your face, transporting the viewer to a rural countryside where the imagination is free to roam. In a bold and vibrant color palette the artist presents a fantastic scene (not bound to depictions of reality) of rolling green hills dotted with flowers, where a pheasant couple are towered over by the stalks of some unfamiliar red and pink blooms. Above, in the cloudless blue sky, is a giant yellow butterfly larger than the female pheasant with pink antennae. No visible signature; framed and ready to hang in your interior. Dimensions: 23” H x 17” W x ½” D
A vibrant vintage French cityscape painting on board, looking down the Rue du Gros Horlogue in Rouen. Of course the enormous clock mounted above the street on a stone arch is quite impressive–with a long history dating back to the 14th century–but the artist has given the surrounding architecture equal attention to highlight their individual styles. Currently the work is enclosed by a teal picture frame sculpted with a rippling texture accented by gold on the crest of the waves. Signed by the artist to the lower right. The more contemporary wood frame painted with swirls in khaki hue complements the image by bringing attention to the implied textures of the bird’s feathers and the etched technique itself. This charming print will be a wonderful addition to an art collection or gift for the amateur ornithologist. Please view the detailed images to see more.

Italian Pair of 19th Century Giltwood Appliqués
$8,400.0033.25"H x 15"W x 4.50"D
Dimensions: 33 ¼” H x 15” W x 4 ½” D
A stunning pair of Italian 19th century giltwood wall appliqués–decorative elements to enhance the architectural program–likely obtained from a church or cathedral as they are flat and unfinished on the backs, intended to be viewed from front. The Eternal Flame urn forms are handcarved with stunning Neoclassical motifs and textures that not only conveys the power of the church but also the lasting influence of the Empire shaped by Napoleon’s vision. At the top of each urn is a textured, waving flame that would have been illuminated by candlelight to magnify its aura. Pairs of eagle heads–iconic symbols of the period–are mounted on each side of the urn’s shoulder with an amber glass rosette embedded in between them. Festooned swags emphasize the curvature and fullness of the urn which is revisited again where the form tapers toward the base as fluted carvings mixed with additional floral-foliate references unifying the exuberance of the design. Block feet painted the color of red bole elevate the urns to stabilize them on a table or mantel. Note that evidence of wax is still visible on the backsides, confirming their historic age.
