A towering, 19th century French Louis Philippe style bibliothèque or bookcase, handcrafted of mahogany with three glass-front doors for displaying treasured books, heirlooms, or trophies in an office or library. The clean, straight lines with angled corners allow this timeless design to fit any number of traditional and transitional decorating tastes. Original glass panes are texturized by waves and small bubbles that complement the animated striations in the mahogany wood grain. Behind the locking doors are six interior shelves (11 ½” deep) that are adjustable on sawtooth brackets to easily reconfigure as needed. The left and center doors function together, representing one, wide vitrine whereas the right side is separate. Below are a series of three doors enclosing the lower cabinet that follow the order of the upper body: left and center doors work in tandem by a lock & key while the right side is separate. Both compartments have an adjustable shelf, approximately 17” deep. Note the lower right door does not have a lock, needing the shared key to pull open. This striking storage piece has been cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to bring out the rich grain pattern and historic patina, ready for your interior. There is one small crack in the glass of the left-side upper cabinet, bottom left corner, which is mostly concealed by the frame holding the pane securely in place. Please view the detailed images. French 18th Century Louis XVI Style Inlay Mahogany Commode
$9,800.0032.50"H x 51.38"W x 24.25"D
Dimensions: 32 ½” H x 51 ⅜” W x 24 ¼” D
An extraordinary French mahogany commode from the 18th century, Louis XVI Period, decorated with an impressive marquetry technique that creates movement and definition over the drawer fronts and side panels. The commode retains its original slab of gray marble, the surface animated by frenetic white veining, and shaped to turreted front corners. Across the top row are three drawers of geometric marquetry designs to outline them–like two rows of twisting ribbon–in alternating blonde and dark woods. Brass bail pulls operate the left and right drawers while the middle drawer requires the key to function as a pull (lock is intact but does not turn). The two wide drawers across the center and below, follow the rhythm as above with three distinct rectangular “frames” around the drawer hardware, in graphic marquetry of dark/light woods that have been hand-decorated in wispy patterns of red pigment suggesting plumes or waves–adding depth and regal grandeur to this already fine example of the woodworker’s craft. The side panels have complementary inlaid designs, themes which are replicated down the turrets (using marquetry to imply fluted recesses) moving into the conical feet so from every perspective one can admire the visionary intentions of the maker even two centuries later. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this commode is ready to be enjoyed in your interior. Be sure to view the detailed images to see the current condition as the right side panel appears to have been repaired.
French 19th Century Solid Oak Buffet à Deux Corps
$5,600.0099.75"H x 57.75"W x 24.75"D
Dimensions: 99 ¾” H x 57 ¾” W x 24 ¾” D
A French solid oak buffet à deux corps from the 19th century, Louis XV in style, with baroque carvings to add depth to the paneled doors, and serpentine apron that together give this large storage piece its historic character. Under the linear crown is a stylized garland carved into the frieze over a pair of doors that mirror each other’s calligraphic outline around the paneling. Each door hangs on steel barrel hinges to support the weight, and use scrolling hardware that coordinates beautifully with the vine and foliate motifs elsewhere. The doors open by working lock and (massive) key to reveal an interior that has been crudely tacked with the most charming floral printed cotton in bold red & white. Three shelves range in depth from 13 ¼”-14 ¾”. In the lower cabinet–protruding forward beyond the upper body–past a working lock and key is an interior fitted with a single shelf, 18 ⅜” deep. The same textile has been used to dress the back of the cabinet as well–see the image gallery for the immersive effect this has when all the doors are open! The sinuous lines of the swelled apron transition into carved escargot feet, another signature of the Louis XV taste for refined, yet playful touches. From its graceful curves to robust proportions and charming patina, this Louis XV armoire will bring a comforting presence to any home. It has been cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax to be ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more and the current condition. Two keys included.

The white marble top is traced in a fine web of gray veining, shaped to turreted front corners and spotted with a few areas of beige patina. Below, the three drawers exhibit striking grain patterns restored to their natural glow under a smooth, satin finish while vertical fluting on the columnar pilasters complements the flamed striations. Patinated brass hardware includes pairs of ring pulls–to easily slide open the drawers–and coordinating escutcheons over the working locks. Conical legs descend from the turrets at the corners before tapering into brass sabot feet at the floor. A timeless storage piece for refined and modern tastes, this 19th century French mahogany enfilade has a more recent ebonized finish that beautifully contrasts the white marble top for a touch of drama in a foyer or dining room. The narrow case is crowned by a recent cut of rectangular marble in translucent white with pale green veining, finished to flat edges that keep the overall profile clean and linear. Note there is a small flea-bite chip along the front of the stone (see the image gallery for more information). $2,995.0031.75"H x 31.50"W x 20"D
Dimensions: 31 ¾” H x 31 ½” W x 20” D
A charming 19th century solid oak petite buffet, exhibiting French Provincial flair and creativity which gives personality to the compact storage piece. The simple plank top glows from the warm tones one would expect of antique oak, blending with patina from two centuries of use imprinted upon the surface. Most notably, there are two drawers oriented perpendicular to each other: one opening from the left side and one on the front (above the right-side cabinet door) using plain, turned knobs. A grand, solid walnut commode from 19th century France, aligning with the Louis XVI taste, it is a multipurpose storage piece scaled to use practically anywhere around the home. Note there is an area of loss to the stone toward the back left, see the image gallery for more information. Modest in construction, the case of three drawers use brass bail pull hardware which lends functional ornamentation to the piece, complemented by small keyhole escutcheons leaving great swathes of the wood to be appreciated for the color and grain. French 19th Century Empire Painted Commode
$5,200.0033.88"H x 42.25"W x 20.75"D
Dimensions: 33 ⅞” H x 42 ¼” W x 20 ¾” D
A French Empire three-drawer commode from the 19th century with its original marble top. A more recent artistic update by a Caribbean-blue painted finish complements the gilt bronze accents, for exciting contrasts in textures and tones. The top surface of dark, nearly black stone is dotted with the fossilized remains of ancient marine animals, among the curious patterns of marbleization. Note that the stone displays the expected patina of scratches and other signs of the commode’s historic age so please view the image gallery for more details. A pair of gilt bronze caryatid busts top the inverted pilasters which flank the stack of three, wide drawers that open by brass lion ring pulls. Escutcheons on each drawer front are purely decorative, no key is present, but their ornate wing motifs underscore the mythical and fantastic inspiration the Empire taste is known for. Contrasting slate blue paint has been applied as a decorative border around the drawer hardware and defines the pilasters further, which draws the eye downward to the wonderful paw feet at the floor. The matte paint remains mostly smooth with some areas of mottled craquelure. Cleaned and tightened, this antique is ready for your interior. Be sure to see the detailed images to see the current condition of this unique painted chest of drawers.

Four paneled doors enclose the unpainted interior, secured by magnetic catches and released by a gentle pull on the understated brass knobs. Note that the center doors open in tandem for easy access to the undivided cabinet with a single shelf (17 ½” D) spanning the width for abundant storage capacity to keep a living room or dining room organized. Cleaned and tightened, this buffet is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images.

French 19th Century Louis Philippe Mahogany Enfilade
$9,500.0037.88"H x 89"W x 25.38"D
Dimensions: 37 ⅞” H x 89” W x 25 ⅜” D
This 19th century Louis Philippe enfilade prominently displays the naturally occurring flamed mahogany grain on the cabinet doors to animate the linear formality of the wide case, forgoing any superfluous decoration which might detract from the organic textures of the wood and marble top. The four-door case is topped with an exciting slab of Saint Anne marble in dark and mysterious vein patterns the stone is prized for. Note that a break toward the right side has been professionally repaired to blend the seam as much as possible. Storage options of the large case are arranged as three drawers across the frieze and four cabinet doors below representing three distinct compartments that will keep a dining room, living room, or foyer organized. The right drawer is thoughtfully divided into six sections for flatware or serving pieces, while the other two drawers remain open for adapting to one’s needs. Locks are intact but do not function, please use the included key as a pull. Below the wide drawer (at center) is the larger of the three cabinets, the two doors opening (and locking) together to reveal two shelves, 21” deep. Left and right compartments have a single shelf, 20 ½” deep. The whole rests on a plinth base which underscores the clean lines and sense of permanence that will make this sideboard a defining feature in any room. $6,800.0039.75"H x 66.75"W x 25"D
Dimensions: 39 ¾” H x 66 ¾” W x 25” D
A statement piece for a dining room or foyer, this 19th century Louis XVI style enfilade demonstrates refined taste and luxury in any scenario. The original, white marble slab conforms to the breakfront of the demilune shape, protruding over the middle section before sloping back toward the wall, the stone traced with thin ribbons of gray veining. Two rectangular drawers in the center use elegantly curved drop handles to open; the right drawer is organized into five sections while the left drawer is undivided. Surprisingly, the curved left and right corners aren’t fixed but fully functioning drawers as well, swinging out by their ring pulls at a 45 degree angle to the case. In the main body, four doors with stunning mahogany fronts enclose the various storage compartments: quarter-round cabinets to the sides offering two small shelves each (sharing a key between them) and a wide cabinet with single shelf (20 ½” deep) behind the middle doors right sharing one key between them. Fluted pilasters transition into conical feet elevating the piece from the floor which creates a sense of lightness against the grand scale. English 19th Century Mahogany Revolving Bookcase
$2,995.0034.25"H x 24"W x 24"D
Dimensions: 34 ¼” H x 24” W x 24” D
A very practical and fun design, this square revolving bookcase would have been made in England circa 1870 using solid mahogany. The thinly ripped vertical slats give the antique a look that was ahead of its time; tts incredible lines could have been an inspiration for Frank Lloyd Wright and those involved in the Arts & Crafts movement. Each of its four sides have two levels for arranging all of your favorite books. The bookcase revolves on a cast iron center shaft elevated by four legs mounted to a cruciform wood base that remains stationary–taking up very little room on the floor yet offers plenty of shelf space with display surface on the top. The clean lines would work well in nearly any interior decoration style, and accommodate a variety of collections. Cleaned, tightened and polished with a French paste wax this antique bookcase is ready to use in your interior. Please view the detailed images.

Dimensions: 31 ⅜” H x 86 ⅝” W x 17 ¾” D
